Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Thompson.
Mark, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does the story begin?
I started USBA in Charlotte, NC, in 2005. We have grown into one of the largest youth basketball organizations in the country. With the help of USBA Vice President Don Ledford, we have now been in Raleigh doing youth basketball tournaments for over 17 years now. Don has been with us from Day 1.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting, we had many struggles because no one had ever heard of USBA. But now, in 2022, we are one of the largest youth basketball organizations in the country.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We offer basketball tournaments and camps for boys and girls teams from grades 2nd thru 12th. We try to offer the best events we possibly can, emphasizing fair play and sportsmanship. I’m very proud of the people who have helped us. 95% of the people who help us have been with us since 2005.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Our staff and the teams have been with us for many years now. They are why we are successful.
