Thank you for having me. My professional journey has been both diverse and fulfilling. I started my career in the non-profit industry, where I gained valuable experience in Volunteer Management. This foundation allowed me to develop skills in training and development, organization, and mentoring which later became instrumental in my transition to becoming a consultant.

As I navigated through different roles and industries, I discovered my passion for empowering local community organizations and continuous learning and innovation. This realization led me to begin consulting while shaping my career path in a way that aligns with my interests and values.

On a personal note, I’ve always been drawn to volunteering and helping others. This was something I started very early as a little girl growing up in church. These experiences outside of the professional realm have enriched my perspective and contributed to my ability to build inclusive environments.

Upon stepping into the role of Director of Volunteer Services at a small nonprofit straight out of college, I embarked on a journey of discovery and growth. While I initially lacked a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies involved, my eagerness to learn and connect propelled me forward.

My commitment to success led me to immerse myself in community groups, specifically tailored for volunteer managers and coordinators. These gatherings proved foundational, offering me invaluable insights into effectively managing volunteers and organizing the services I provided. Over time, as my mentors transitioned into retirement or other ventures, I observed a void in resources and support for the new wave of professionals entering the dynamic field of volunteer management.

Equipped with newfound knowledge and drawing on my Human Resources studies, I naturally transitioned into a role of mentorship. I began designing and facilitating workshops, providing one-on-one training, and offering support to emerging talent in the field. As I witnessed the growing demand for the resources and services I was providing, a realization dawned on me – there was a unique opportunity to address this need comprehensively.

Motivated by the desire to bridge the gap and foster a supportive community for volunteer managers and coordinators, I founded Volunteer Solutions. This venture emerged organically from my own experiences and the evolving landscape of volunteer management, to provide a centralized hub for education, mentorship, and resources. I am excited to continue making a positive impact on the volunteer management industry and contribute to the success of individuals navigating this fulfilling yet challenging field.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
While the journey of establishing and growing Volunteer Solutions has been incredibly rewarding, it hasn’t been without its share of challenges. Like any venture, I’ve encountered obstacles that have tested my adaptability and problem-solving skills.

However, I firmly believe that challenges are a natural part of any business journey, and each obstacle has provided me with valuable learning experiences. These moments of adversity have prompted me to reassess my approach, refine processes, and ultimately strengthen the foundation. The ability to overcome challenges has not only enhanced the resilience of our firm but has also contributed to our continuous improvement.

In retrospect, the journey has been one of growth and evolution. I have been able to build strong teams, forge meaningful partnerships, and make a positive impact on the communities I serve. While there are hurdles along the way, I view them as opportunities for innovation. Overall, the journey has been rewarding, and I am confident that the experiences gained will continue to contribute to the success of my firm.
