Meet Matthew Plaine of Plaine’s Bike Shop

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Plaine.

Matthew, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin? 
My GPA started a store after World War II in New York. He passed it down to my father and uncle. I ran four stores in New York with my father pre-COVID. My GPA and father have passed away during covid. They didn’t die of covid. I moved down to Wilmington. I now own a bike shop. Business is booming! I’m a Mountain bike champ. I went to school for bike fitting. I love bikes. 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I moved down here a year ago to Wilmington from Albany, NY. I started the business 11 weeks ago. My shop is now the smallest shop I ever ran. Utilizing the space has been my biggest optical.
