My journey began in a very organic way. Baking and cooking have always been a true passion of mine, and there is nothing more fulfilling than seeing someone genuinely enjoy my desserts or a meal I’ve prepared. What started as baking for family and friends gradually grew into requests for custom cakes and desserts, and eventually became Indulge by Melanie.
I’ve built my business while working in healthcare, raising two daughters as a single mother, and navigating health challenges related to long-haul COVID. Through it all, I’ve stayed committed to providing a luxury dessert experience and growing my brand with intention.
Today, Indulge by Melanie is known for thoughtful, high-quality desserts that feel personal and celebratory. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and grateful for the lessons entrepreneurship continues to teach me, especially perseverance, discipline, and the courage to keep going even when the path isn’t easy.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced challenges that tested both my resilience and my ability to adapt.
Financial setbacks forced me to take a step back and reassess what was truly sustainable. In addition, living with long-haul COVID syndrome has brought physical limitations that required me to pace myself and learn to work smarter, not harder. There were moments when I had to make difficult decisions, scaling back, refocusing, and letting go of offerings that were no longer aligned with growth or well-being.
Despite those challenges, each obstacle became a learning moment. They pushed me to build with intention, set boundaries, and approach my business strategically. While the road hasn’t been easy, it has shaped both my perspective and the strength behind everything I’m building today.

I’ve learned how to keep moving forward, even when the path isn’t easy, and how to adjust without losing sight of my vision.
Resilience has taught me to grow with intention, stay disciplined, and believe in myself through uncertainty. It’s what allows me to show up consistently, for my family, my clients, my brand, and continue building something meaningful despite the obstacles.
