Meet Niki Brown of North Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Niki Brown.

Hi Niki, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I was studying pre-medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I discovered the field of interior design. Pivoting to a design career was certainly a huge switch; however it was a perfect fit for me as I have always had a love for both science and art. Interior Design is the intersection of both, and practicing interior design also activates my background in psychology.

After working as an interior designer for architecture firms and firm that focused on multi-family environments, I launched my firm in 2018 with the mission to positively affect the wellbeing and identity of all who inhabit our designed environments.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I started my company, I felt like I had a successful start with organic leads coming in due to my previous online presence. I even had national press within the first year. And then 2020 happened, and we all saw the world flip upside down. Not only did my company have to ride the wave of the pandemic, but I also got married and became a mom within a year. My whole life changed and I was determined to keep building my business through it all.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What sets me apart from most interior designers in the Raleigh area is that I hold a BS in interior design, have worked in architecture firms, and also for TV productions on HGTV.

I bring a multifaceted perspective to every project.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I am a Raleigh native, which has become rare in these days! It is a bittersweet feeling to see the city that I call home transforming into a bigger, more vibrant destination. I’m excited for “my” city, but there are also parts of the city that I held dear that no longer exist.
