Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Bailey.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Bailey Behavior Consulting grew out of both my professional journey and my personal values. I started my education in the psychology space and shortly after graduating I was introduced to Applied Behavior Analysis while working directly with children with autism. What initially drew me in was the science was ABA’s ability to create meaningful, measurable change. But what has kept me in the field was the relationships and the impact on families’ everyday lives.
I went back to graduate school while working full time as a Registered Behavior Technician, collecting fieldwork hours, and navigating major life events, including becoming a parent and living through the COVID-19 pandemic with an active-duty military spouse. That season taught me resilience, efficiency, and the importance of support systems. These are lessons that still shape how I approach my work today. I completed my graduate program with a 4.0 GPA and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, eventually moving into leadership and clinical training roles.
Over time, I noticed a growing gap: families, educators, and organizations often needed practical, behavior-based support but didn’t always fit neatly into traditional service models or diagnostic boxes. Bailey Behavior Consulting was created to help bridge that gap. My practice is rooted in the science of behavior, but guided by compassion, accessibility, and real-life application. My goal is to make evidence-based strategies feel understandable, supportive, and usable in everyday environments not just in clinical settings.
Today, Bailey Behavior Consulting focuses on consultation, education, and skill-building that empower individuals and families while honoring their values and lived experiences. The journey here has been anything but linear, but every step has shaped the mission of the practice: to break down barriers, build confidence, and use behavior science as a tool for growth and connection.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not exactly. Like most small businesses, the road has been full of learning curves. One of the biggest challenges was building something aligned with my values while working in a field that’s often constrained by rigid systems, funding models, and narrow definitions of who services are “for.” I knew I wanted Bailey Behavior Consulting to feel accessible and human, not clinical or intimidating, and figuring out how to balance that with ethical practice and sustainability took time.
On a personal level, much of my professional growth happened during seasons that were already demanding. Between working full time, completing graduate training, raising a young child, and navigating the unpredictability of military life. That meant learning how to manage burnout, set boundaries, and accept that progress doesn’t always look linear.
There were also challenges in stepping away from traditional roles and trusting myself to build something different. Choosing to broaden the scope of how behavior science can be used required a lot of confidence, patience, and education both for myself and for the people I serve. Those struggles ultimately shaped the business into what it is today and reinforced why the work matters: sustainable, ethical support has to work for real people in real life, including the professionals providing it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Bailey Behavior Consulting is a behavior science based consultation and education practice designed to support individuals, families, and professionals beyond traditional clinical models. My background is in the autism spectrum disorder application of Applied Behavior Analysis, but the work I do is not limited to a diagnosis, age group, or single setting. I specialize in translating the science of behavior into practical, real life strategies that people can actually use in their homes, schools, and communities.
What sets Bailey Behavior Consulting apart is the focus on accessibility and dignity. I am intentional about creating support that feels collaborative rather than prescriptive. Families and professionals are not handed a list of rules or expectations. Instead, they are given tools, understanding, and guidance that fit their values, routines, and lived experiences. The goal is empowerment and skill building, not dependence on services.
The brand itself reflects that philosophy. From the language I use to the visual design and resources I create, everything is meant to feel calm, approachable, and human. I am most proud of building a brand that balances professionalism with warmth and reflects both the rigor of evidence based practice and the compassion required to support meaningful behavior change.
I want readers to know that Bailey Behavior Consulting exists to bridge gaps between science and everyday life and between support and sustainability. At its core, the business is about helping people build confidence, clarity, and practical skills using behavior science as a tool for growth.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I do not see myself as a traditional risk taker, but I do believe in taking intentional, values driven risks. Most of the major risks I have taken have not been dramatic leaps, but thoughtful decisions made during already demanding seasons of life. Choosing to pursue graduate training and board certification while working full time, raising a young child, and navigating the realities of military life was a significant risk in itself. It required trusting that the long term payoff would be worth the short term strain. And if you are wondering, it was worth every second and I would do it all over again to be where I am today.
Starting Bailey Behavior Consulting was another risk. I stepped away from more predictable, traditional roles to become a trailblazer in how behavior science is applied and shared. There was no guaranteed roadmap for creating a practice centered on consultation, education, and broader applications of behavior science. I had to accept uncertainty, especially as someone trained as a clinician rather than a business professional, and learn as I went.
My perspective on risk is grounded in preparation and purpose. I am comfortable taking risks when they align with my values and when I have done the work to understand the potential impact. I think sustainable growth often comes from calculated risks that prioritize integrity and long term vision over immediate comfort. For me, risk is less about being fearless and more about being intentional and committed to the direction I want my work and life to take.
