Meet Rachel Turchin of The Horse Shoe Farm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Turchin.

Hi Rachel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey to The Horse Shoe Farm began in Los Angeles believe it or not! My husband, Jordan, and I were pursuing our dreams in the City of Angels. We’d just had our first child and were feeling the call to move back to the East Coast to be closer to family when the opportunity to develop this piece of property opened up. Having explored all kinds of wellness and self-care modalities during our stint out West, we were inspired to work with the land to create a space of gathering, connection and healing and to share a bit of what we were exploring in our own lives. Together with our family, we put our all into the land to create what is now a thriving boutique resort focused on hospitality, connection and well-being.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The path of entrepreneurship is never a smooth road, and that is the beauty of it! Having never created a resort before, I learned by doing, and that sometimes means learning the hard way! Rather than “mistakes” or “failures,” I like to reframe such moments as “opportunities,” they are markers on the path leading you to your goal. The important thing is to listen to your instincts, seize these opportunities and learn from them so you can grow into a better version of yourself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Horse Shoe Farm?
The Horse Shoe Farm is a boutique farm resort set on 85 acres of pristine farmland in the heart of Western North Carolina. We offer luxury accommodations, farm to table dining, and a unique spa set in an authentic horse barn. Connection and wellness are at the heart of what we offer – from retreats to solo journeys, to sharing a meal at our communal tables or a conversation in our communal spaces, to strolling the rolling grounds, saying hello to the animals or trying out our many wellness offerings, our guests are invited to slow down and connect with nature and themselves.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Our farm is named after the particular bend in the French Broad River that we are located on, which moves in a horse shoe shape along our banks. Some might call it a “lucky” bend! I feel the constant blessing of the land that we are located on, the great power of fronting one of the oldest rivers in the world, and the magic of the Blue Ridge Mountains that surround us. The more I have leaned into gratitude for the blessings in my life and business, the more I have found that “luck” opens up. Good luck or bad luck is simply guidance on the path to where you are going – the more I can listen to the guidance, the more aligned I become with my goals.
