Meet Rickea Shonte’

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rickea Shonte’.

Hi Rickea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My love for fashion and clothes started in high school. I loved trying different patterns and trends. My mother and I would go to our local thrift stores and I would stock up on blazers and high-waisted jeans. I won best dressed my senior year and when I got to college more people took note of the way I dressed and would ask where I got certain pieces. Instagram became wildly popular and I created a page. I continued to post #ootd pictures and my wardrobe continued to grow. In 2020 I had an increase in followers and a request for styling services. I was featured in the launch of The Cara Santana Collection by designer Cara Santana and On Ross Dress For Less. On August 24, 2020, I decided to stop playing small and launched my styling business. I mainly work with creatives and business professionals to expand and update their wardrobes. I also provide birthday and special event packages.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been plenty of times that I wanted to give up. I would become discouraged when certain Instagram posts wouldn’t perform the way I hoped or a client required multiple revisions. The key is to have faith in yourself, your creativity, and your abilities. This rough patch is only temporary and it will pass. “No rain, no flowers.”

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a fashion stylist focused on helping people look just as good on the outside, as they feel on the inside. I provide a safe, space where my clients can be honest about how they want to look/feel and become confident in their appearance. I’m known for my high energy and bubbly personality. What sets me apart from others is that I’m open to experimenting and stepping out of the box with my style ideas.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I am a stylist who is developing a brand that represents my passion for fashion. I’m just happy I went for it because you never know what could be if you never try. I’d encourage anyone who has a passion to just shoot their shot.
