Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Stone
Hi Sarah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born and raised in Raleigh, grew up with horses, when we first moved here everyone thought it was stupid to move to wake forest cause there was nothing there, but watching it grow has been wild!
I was always the girl who did my hair and everyone else’s hair in the bathroom, but I didn’t know if it would be a good career.
After going to college then dropping out not one but three times I chose hair school. Where I met some of my best friends who I wouldn’t trade for the world. The hour and a half trip each way was so worth it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not
I had a traumatic brain injury in 2015, and doctors did not know if I would ever speak, or walk or anything on my own ever again after the accident. I thought I’d find a small D3 school to go to college and play volleyball but I ended up having to relearn how to do things how I used to. And the brain bleed made migraines unbearable, my mental health was still declining and my ADHD made it beyond impossible to find motivation in anything
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a hairstylist!
Vivid hair (fashion color) is my favorite thing ever, I love crafts and to me hair is an outlet to make people feel comfortable in their own skin and express themselves however they want which is the coolest thing to me!
In hair school one of my favorite brands reached out and commented on my work and that was such a crazy moment for me, I talked about it for weeks!
I think what sets me apart from other stylists is how I make my clients feel like friends!
When I talk with them we laugh and tell stories, and I pick their favorite songs and post their transformations to something that’s their favorite and makes them happy for a little extra hype and it makes people feel special
What makes you happy?
The people that I’m close with. Being around them is when I feel the most loved, and supported. I’ve gathered the best family I could’ve ever asked for over the years and I truly wouldn’t trade them for the world.
