Today we’d like to introduce you to Saved By Grace Music
Hi Saved by Grace Music, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Saved by Grace Music began as an idea to write and play original worship music locally in order to share and celebrate the love of Jesus Christ. This dream started with a college student gathered other like-minded people to sit down and write a song. God kept bringing people together to share ideas. One late night led to another and another and before you know it, a whole catalog of songs was written. This past summer, we embarked on recording a debut album, “God You Love Me.” Truly a labor of love, all the writing, instrumentation, recording, and producing was done with the singular goal of praising Jesus’ name.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The beginning, back when this was all just a conversation, was pretty smooth. It was fun collaborating to write songs and put music to them. Most of our struggles began when we got serious about what we were doing. As soon as we tried to record the first few songs we learned that we knew almost nothing about recording music. Everyone in the band had extensive experience playing or singing on stage but that didn’t translate over as well as we thought. But God brought us just the right people to figure it all out. Two of our members undertook the monumental effort of recording and producing the entire album. There was a steep learning curve but we all learned so much from it. It’s only by God’s grace that we have an album to share so we give thanks for the opportunities and aid He’s given us.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We’re just a group of people living and working in Greenville, NC from all sorts of backgrounds who have decided to use our creative talents to praise Jesus Christ. He’s done so much for us so we wanted to make something for Him out of the overflow from our own lives. It’s this overflow that shapes our songwriting into relatable, God-honoring worship.
Everything we’ve written was a collaborative effort. Many of our songs began quite simply as either a prayer or an expression towards God from a deeply personal place. For instance, the song, “God You Love Me,” started as a heartfelt prayer seeking validation in God’s love during a troubling season. It was one of the first we finished then became a personal favorite among the band and ultimately the title track for the album.
Saved by Grace Music is a diverse group and that is reflected in the diverse range of music, instrumentation, and styles we utilize for our songs. For instance, “Glory to God” has a driving beat and killer electric guitar line while “Falling into Grace” sounds almost RnB-esque. “Welcome” soaks amidst acoustic guitars and lush harmonies, there’s even a saxophone peeking out from the background. No two songs are the same and that’s how we like it. God’s given us so much creativity. It just makes sense that our worship of Him utilize everything we’ve got.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
God has wonderful things for you to do in this life. There’s all sorts of good ideas and dreams buried in our hearts. Get together with other people and just go do it! Too often great ideas never get off the ground. Dream, pray, work together to see them accomplished.
