Meet Shae Bojorquez of Haymount (Fayetteville, NC)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shae Bojorquez.

Hi Shae, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After getting my Bachelors Degree in 2019 and having my son in 2020, I realized I really wanted to be in an industry that had a more flexible schedule. I always valued jobs that helped others in some way, and I have always loved being creative. I was inspired to start cosmetology school in early 2021 when my son was only 4 months old. While it was extremely hard being back in school (at night) as a new mom, while breastfeeding and still working, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I absolutely fell in love with the hair industry and have been so grateful for what this job has brought my family and me. I’ve been able to be a present mother, express my creativity, help others feel beautiful, and so much more. I wouldn’t trade this career for anything!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been easy. Between moving states multiple times due to the military, as well as building a clientele and networking within the community, there have definitely been challenges. Now that I have all of my amazing clients and have settled into my own salon, things have been smooth sailing!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Although I do a little bit of just about everything in the hair world, my absolute favorite thing to do is creative color! Something about rainbows and getting to paint my vision on my trusting clients is so fun and satisfying. I also love working with curly hair, which is something I’ve had extra training for. I absolutely love a challenge, even color corrections don’t scare me away. The bigger the transformation, the more my soul sings!

What matters most to you? Why?
My son means more to me than anything in this world. When I originally decided to go to cosmetology school instead of pursuing my career as a preschool teacher, it was because I wanted to be in charge of my own schedule and be there for my child the best I could possibly be. Little did I know, that decision would lead to a newfound love and passion as well!
