Hi Sofiia and Anna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We are two women from Ukraine who were forced to relocate to the United States due to the situation in our country. Here, we met while working together at a nail salon in Charlotte. We quickly realized that we wanted to promote and introduce American women to a higher-quality product in our market and a more careful approach to nail health. This inspired us to start planning the opening of our own salon. When we visited Concord, we fell in love with the city—it felt very comfortable, safe, and beautiful. So, the choice to open our salon in Concord was an easy one.
We are two very different personalities, but this has only helped us in starting our own business and overcoming numerous challenges (and there were plenty 😅). This business is like a baby to us, one that we nurture every day, putting in maximum effort to create comfort and coziness for our clients.
This is just the beginning for us, our first salon, but we are definitely not the type to stop there. We have big plans for growing our business, our Lulu Nails Family Salons 💫
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Since this was our first experience opening our own business in the USA, we faced many challenges and misunderstandings. We didn’t have any external help, so we had to rely on ChatGPT, Google, and countless calls to various government offices. We especially want to highlight the patience and kindness of the Concord city staff, as they received the majority of our calls 😅.
It was also difficult to renovate the premises and find a reliable, conscientious contractor who could understand and fulfill our vision. At times, we felt so overwhelmed that we were ready to paint the ceilings and lay the floors ourselves 😂.
We are incredibly grateful to our friends who helped us with the salon’s design, logo, and management of our online pages, and who continue to support and assist us to this day 😇.
And a special thanks to our husbands, who endured our breakdowns and didn’t divorce us despite all the stress (and there was a lot of it) 😂.
As you know, we’re big fans of LuLu Nails LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Our salon specializes in European-style manicures and pedicures. What sets us apart from traditional salons in the USA is our high level of tool sterilization. Additionally, we take a different approach to cuticle care, which ensures that manicures and pedicures look cleaner and nicer for 3-4 weeks.
We work with premium-segment gels from Ukraine. Our arsenal also includes hypoallergenic gel products, allowing us to select the right material for each client.
Our range of services includes dry manicures, gel nail extensions of various lengths, nail designs of different complexities, and dry pedicures using professional foot care products.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
This is just the beginning for us. We plan to expand our network of salons not only in the Charlotte area but also in other cities in North Carolina (and perhaps even in other states 😇).
