Today we’d like to introduce you to SageStewart.
Hi Sage, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I spent the bulk of my career in Human Resources at national and global organizations. The last 5 in Diversity Training and Education. I was another educated black woman was forced out of a high ranking corporate position. If only my story was unique rather than another in a series. I’d like to say I was shocked but that would not be accurate. I felt it coming. I had a knowing. 12 years, 2 degrees, and a certificate meant nothing compared to my skin color, of being the “only” in a room.
After months of exhaustion and stress, I was depleted. Recovery took months, but during the journey through hair loss, depression, and anxiety I was led back to my voice. I thought I had lost it. That somehow was taken from me. Returning to my hobbies reignited my passion and purpose. Through hobbies and holistic care, I was healed. The real change occurred when I began sharing my story. Not only did audiences embrace my story, but they wanted help telling theirs in a meaningful way. It was then I founded conVerge wellness solutions. Its mission is to rehumanize us one story at a time.
My brand is dedicated to supporting women, people of color, and the neurodiverse to exit corporate strategically and step into their purpose as entrepreneurs. For me, this is diversity done well. To ensure that no one feels the weight of “being the only”. To create community and ecosystems for those who are often overlooked and undervalued. Those who silently suffer.
I believe everyone has a story, one so powerful that it connects each of us to another. It is with that mindset that I empower my clients to share their stories without shame. I am an advocate, a coach, and a voice. I am at peace and I am well.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The transition has been easy. My mental health was of prime importance therefore, the decision was made for me. I was prepared financially. The true hurdles came from regaining my identity and reconnecting to my inner truth.
I believe that if something is forced then it is fear – and if fear exists then it is not faith.
I have enough faith in my purpose that I will not fail. I believe enough in the stories of those I support that I will keep telling them.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
To be most effective I always ask my clients to “tell me a story”. It helps me understand why they do what they do. There is something unique about everyone, and that story, when given life can change our life trajectory. I give them permission to heal through their story. In short, I tell my clients “Don’t Fit In”, because they are meant to shine.
Through my 5 Principles, I help my clients move in purpose to possibilities – connecting their vision with their values. I will guide anyone motivated enough to step boldly into their truth . As a business strategist, I help entrepreneurs thrive in the start up phases, typically the first 5 years, to ensure they avoid million-dollar mistakes. I leverage my experience and background in human resources and systems management to support the business owners that need me most.
Today, I am a Storyteller, Talk Show Host, Author, Public Speaker, and Holistic Brand Coach.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Some would have called me introverted. I don’t like that word. Though quite in most cases, when I spoke there was a mighty voice. I was and am an observer of people and my environment. I was also called shy. I would agree with that. I shy away from those who do not serve me well.
It’s no wonder I am a Storyteller today. Even at a young age, I loved stories. I would get lost in fantasy worlds and spend hours reading. Taking in as much information as I could. My imagination was vivid and I dreamed in color.
I was full of energy for the things that I loved. I enjoyed creating and serving. I advocated for others when no one else would, and often stood alone. I made few friends along the way, but the people who knew me then who are still here today are invaluable friends.
