Today we’d like to introduce you to Tom Fleming.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started DJing when I was in High School (99-03) and sold my stuff when I joined the Navy after Graduation. 20 years later, I started my business back up as an adult with 5 kids. I’ve always had a passion for music and love entertaining people. I have been running TJ the DJ for 2 years now and have fun at every event that I DJ.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road wasn’t smooth. I had to make a large investment in equipment and create a name for myself all over again. On top of that, I work a full time job as a Field Service Engineer and have 5 kids at home. DJing is a side job for me, so I give my weekends away from my wife and kids frequently. After a year and a half, I did an equipment upgrade to even better gear due to my business expanding and my name spreading in popularity.

I offer DJ & MC services for any type of occasion. Weddings, Sweet 16, Corporate Events, Quinceañeras, Birthdays, School Events, etc. I come to the plevent with high energy and excellent music. My goal is to make the event unforgettable for everyone. I have different hourly rates based on equipment used along with tiered wedding packages. I love playing music and having fun with the guests!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a nerd. I loved computers and electronics. I was/am obsessed with Christmas lights. I wasn’t super popular but had a good amount of friends. One of my favorite things to do was ride my bike around my neighborhood for hours with my friends. I also loved DJing in High School.
