Meet Tony Wyatt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Wyatt.

Hi Tony, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Wyatt and Dad Cobbler Company started in 1989 in Winston Salem. In 2016, we decided to expand and opened a shoe repair shop in Durham for our first expansion.

In 2017, we added our 3rd store in Charlotte. Now we offer a mail-in service that opened up our market worldwide.

We have a YouTube channel, Instagram, and Facebook page that helps us reach this new market.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve never known of a business that had a smooth road, but we have loved every minute of it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Wyatt and Dad Cobbler Company is a full-service shoe repair business. We recraft men’s and women’s shoes and boots, purses, and other leather products. We have 3 stores in NC, as well as mail-in services. One of the things that set us apart is our transparency in how we do things and the services we offer that other shops don’t offer.

We work to market our trade and industry through our YouTube channel, Instagram, and Facebook, instead of just advertising about ourselves. We train our own craftsmen and help train others in the industry as well. People say that shoe repair is a dying trade because there aren’t many shops left.

The truth is that the decrease in our industry isn’t because of a lack of business. It’s because of a lack of people knowing it is a trade they can learn and an interesting career opportunity.

How do you define success?
Success is being happy at what you do and doing it well.
