Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Alshehabi.
Hi Alicia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved back to Raleigh after six years in Charleston, SC and wanted a fun way to meet new people and connect with the community so I started my blog. At first I just posted outfits of the day and random links to forever21, but eventually I decided I wanted to support more local boutiques and businesses. It was actually a former manager and a few employees of Fabrik in Cameron Village who both encouraged me to start the blog! Shout out to Mere, Mad, and Rach,
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, of course not and I am still trying to learn and grow everyday! It can get discouraging when you put time and effort into a post, your feed, and even stories and then it gets either no attention or no feedback. It can feel like a slap in the face at times. I try to remind myself this is an outlet for myself that I enjoy and that’s all that matters! It sparks joy within me!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a bag of surprises LOL! I don’t follow one niche which may be hurting me, but my current followers seem to like it (I think). One day I may talk about my new favorite skincare product, another will be a try on from my favorite boutique, and then I may take you on an adventure on the lake or in the woods.
As Meredith Brooks says, “I’m a little bit of everything all rolled into one”. I do have a foodie page was well @wakeforetfoodie so I just love all of the things! Supporting local is very important to me as well and I’m very thankful for the relationships I have been fortunate to make through my blog and social media accounts! I’m proud of staying true to myself and not trying to conform into something I think people want to see and I think that alone sets me apart.
How do you define success?
Success is doing something you love in my opinion. Anyone can make money or climb the corporate latter, but doing something you love day in and day out is the key.
