Rising Stars: Meet Ashley Jane Georgia of Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Jane Georgia.

Hi Ashley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started my career in Los Angeles, freelancing for luxury fashion labels in Beverly Hills and designing web content for Hollywood film agencies. I then pursued new opportunities in New York City. Working in e-commerce and fashion marketing, where I became a creative cornerstone in developing a masstige lingerie brand. I began designing lingerie packaging, photographed and directed lingerie editorial photoshoots, and developed various web content. After years of working for private labels, I wished to explore the world of advertising agencies. I worked as a full-time Art Director for a digital advertising agency in Times Square. During this time at the agency, I created and managed content for global beauty brands and became familiar with agency processes. I have an affinity for fashion and e-commerce marketing. That passion returned my gaze from agency life to private label, where I worked as an Associate Creative Director for an indie bridal brand in Tribeca. During this time, I also began to develop my freelance business, landing my work in major magazine publications and preparing myself for the next steps in my career. Today I continue on my path to becoming an influential creative leader, working as a full-time Art Director, Photographer, and Content Specialist for a biotech haircare company headquartered in Raleigh, NC, Virtue Labs.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m dyslexic. It’s my gift but sometimes presents itself as my struggle. While navigating a highly competitive industry in LA & NYC, I was forced to constantly remind and teach myself new and innovative ways to communicate my ideas and concepts. Like most stories worth telling, there are always twists and turns on the road to success and discovery. Dyslexia has taught me a lot about myself and others.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work out of the Virtue Lab’s studio in Downtown Raleigh. I’ve been with the brand for 5 years. I’m an artist who specializes in film and photography. I’m most known for my product and still-life photography. In my early career, I was known for fashion and beauty editorials. I have a very clean and bold aesthetic. I’m most proud of the work I’ve created for Virtue Labs over the years and of being a part of a growing brand from the ground up. It’s allowed me to help build a full-service studio from scratch and gather some invaluable real-world perspectives and business insight. I’m surrounded by an incredible team of people who inspire and support me daily. What sets me apart is having a multifaceted collection of skills that allows me to quickly take my work from pre to post-production—directing, lighting, sound, editing, styling, retouching, etc.

Dedication, loyalty, reliability, and flexibility.
