Today we’d like to introduce you to Brea Borrelli.
Hi Brea, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always had a passion for design and creativity. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Full Sail University, where I first began creating logos and branding work for others. My very first project was building a website for my mom’s recipes and health blog, and from there my love for design only grew. After moving to North Carolina with my husband, who serves in the Army, I started Brea Bee Designs by taking on small projects like T-shirt designs and logos. Over time, word spread and my offerings expanded—today I design everything from logos and websites to custom apparel, marketing materials, and even unique items like playing cards. I pride myself on being a one-woman shop, always learning new skills to provide clients with creative solutions that bring their visions to life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting my business in a completely new area after moving with my husband was challenging, and I had to learn everything about running a business while adjusting to a new community. When my husband deployed for nine months, I poured myself into refining my brand and building my personal website—it kept me busy and gave me a sense of purpose during that time. The journey has been relatively slow, but steady, with most of my growth coming through repeat clients and word of mouth. Those experiences have taught me resilience and patience, and they continue to push me to grow as both a business owner and a designer.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
While I enjoy every aspect of design, I have a special love for creating T-shirt designs. That’s actually where my brand began—making funny, unique designs for my online store, which really helped shape Brea Bee Designs. Over time, my work has expanded into logos, websites, marketing materials, and more, but I’m still especially proud of those roots. What sets me apart is my adaptability and determination to keep learning; if a client needs something, there’s a very high chance I can either do it or figure out how to make it happen. That versatility, along with the personal connection I build with each client, is something I’m most proud of.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was pretty shy and reserved—I loved burying my head in books and spending hours on the computer writing stories, drawing, or playing video games. I always had a wide range of interests that shifted as I got older, and for a long time I actually dreamed of becoming a doctor. I even went to a technical school that specialized in the medical field. But over time I realized that my real passion was in the creative arts, and that’s where my focus shifted. Looking back, it makes sense—creativity was always the common thread in everything I enjoyed.
