Rising Stars: Meet Byron Ferrell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Byron Ferrell.

Hi Byron, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Photography started for me about ten years ago. I did event planning in my area and at that time, I was trying to cut cost to be profitable in the event planning world. I always wanted to capture the moments at my events so I didn’t want to entirely get rid of it. I thought well let me look into investing into a camera and take the photos myself (not the best decision at that time, lol). I hired my photography back as I was not ready to take on the demanding job. Fortunately, I decided to keep my camera and learn every possible aspect of it as possible. Over the next two years I studied lightning, camera functions, and how to compose the perfect photos. I have been professionally taking pictures now for eight years. I have had the opportunity to capture 100’s of families, celebrity events, published models, and countless weddings. My business has been up over 75% over the last two years and especially after the pandemic. I think the pandemic taught the importance of family, as I have been booked with family sessions almost regularly through the year of 2021!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Any successful business has struggles. I have struggled through just learning the possibilities of this business, the time and effort it takes to perfect your craft, struggled with quitting but I knew I had a bigger purpose.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I typically specialize in Family Photography, Street Photography, Maternity, and Newborn. I’m pretty flexible but this is where most of my clients come from!

I’m most known for “creating memories” that’s my motto! Each client that I engage with, I would love to get to know them first. This helps me bring out the Authenticity in them!

I’m mostly proud of my growth from where I came from and most importantly of my supporters.

What set me apart from others; My ability to learn, I’m not one of those photographers that knows it all, I’m going to give you the best that is in me and I can take the criticism if a client is not happy! My number 1 thing is to know the customer so that I can deliver! So if you book me, we will be engaging up until the shoot!

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
One of my favorite books is “The Millionaire Next Door” This relates to photography because in a world full of photographers, the most talented ones are not always seen but their presence is felt.
