Rising Stars: Meet Danny Quick

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Quick.

Hi Danny, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always loved comic books and cartoons growing up and as an adult, I’m happy I get to make them. When I got deployed to Iraq in 2008, I used my free time to write, and create new characters.

I went to my first Comic Book Convention when I got back and I knew it was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. Ever since then I’ve been learning the process of making our own comics and building a Superhero Universe.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Learning an entirely new industry is tough. I was a Combat Medic in the military, and that’s a lit different than writing and publishing comic books. Contracts and schedules with artists and printing.

Logistics is always a nightmare. There have definitely been a lot of ups and downs, but as they say, when you’re doing what you love, it doesn’t feel like work.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We opened our first comic book store in Burlington NC, but we have artists, and regular booths at Galaxycon in Raleigh, and NC Comicon in Durham NC. We specialize in superhero comics and Escape Rooms.

How do you define success?
I believe my success will be measured by the amount of opportunity that I create for other artists and creatives to work doing what they love.
