Rising Stars: Meet Dasha Boger of Charlotte, NC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dasha Boger.

Hi Dasha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Since I was a kid I’ve always seemed to find my way to music. From Sunday mornings filled with gospel notes, to hearing legends like Lil Wayne, Fantasia, and many more alike blasting through beat up radio systems that my dad always kept around. Life for me has always been like a constant song being written. Specifically a song in the writing process waiting to be polished and consumed by anyone willing to open their heARTS to listen.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing up In East Spencer, NC my family and I faced many challenges, setbacks, and tribulations. I mentioned before that we were really poor. I Grew up being familiarized with welfare and warfare. Both within my home and community. My mother who would eventually pass away when I was 13 was a WONDERful woman. However, throughout my mothers life she struggled with drug addiction, along with many mental health issues. This put a weight on the shoulders of my whole family which influenced so much of what I would come to understand, specifically inside of ME, is my own mental health issues such as depression and slight truma from my past.
I was raised in a two-parent home with both parents, and my father has always been a solid man. My dad worked a fulltime job at Brickyard company to pay the bills and put food on the table.

My dad always kept a radio on his bedside when I was little, and by the time my brother Josh and I were a little over eight, we became well acquainted with that radio! I can recall a moment when I had been gifted my first flip phone around 12- years- old. I used the voice recorder app to record songs playing on the radio that I liked, then we would spend so much time rapping and writing over the beat our own lyrics.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In 2013 my mother passed away, this left me in a position where I was no longer able to be a kid. I jumped into a childish version of motherhood for my siblings and myself. I being working a fulltime job shortly after, to take care of myself and anything I needed to help take some pressure from my father. 2013 was bitter sweet as fuck!

I’ve spent a lot of time dreaming, freestyling, struggling, overcoming, and writing. I pushed through doors that were built to not be open and I have no plans of stopping anytime soon. I am art because I have the heART of a dragon, and the mind of poet that shapeshifts into anything I need it to be.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
This life has not been an easy one but that has never depreciated its worth to me. Ive lived through agony, and pain that many people will never have and I’m only 25. But I’ve also seen so many high notes, and have experienced and been in some of the best love that I couldn’t have imagined in this life and this is what makes me, DDA TINK.

A power house, bold, beautiful, iconic, and artistic.

I am the artist, and all of the pictures that he paints. I lead a brand where no artist is left behind if they’re willing to put some work in.

I’m just getting started, my “larussle story” is unfolding right before my eyes and it’s one I’m blessed to share so that it can be shared.d email for photos, write up, and credits attached
