Today we’d like to introduce you to Diedre Collins.
Hi Diedre, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been someone with a wide range of interests, and my life and career have reflected that. As someone with ADHD and autism, if something captures my interest, I put my heart and soul into it. Over the years I’ve worked in customer service, education, sales, administration, and management, while also earning degrees in Culinary Arts, Theatre, and Business. I’ve had the privilege of living in four different states and three different countries and that rich cultural experience expanded my worldview. Every experience taught me something different about connecting with people and building community.
Creativity has always been the common thread. Whether I am designing costumes, experimenting with makeup, creating content, or helping others, I find myself drawn to work that allows me to educate, entertain, and build community.
That passion eventually led me to create Tinker’s Pandamonium, a brand where I can bring together all of the things I love under one roof. Through content creation, makeup, cosplay, diy builds, and creative storytelling, I’ve built a space that encourages people to embrace what makes them unique and to have feel comfortable expressing themselves authentically.
Like many entrepreneurs, my path hasn’t been a straight line. There have been unexpected challenges and plenty of opportunities to pivot, but those experiences have helped shape both me and my business. Today, I’m continuing to grow Tinker’s Pandamonium while exploring new creative projects, collaborating with brands, and sharing my journey with an incredible online community. For me, success isn’t just about building a business. It’s about creating something authentic that helps people feel seen, heard, inspired, and a little more confident in being themselves.
Building this business has also taught me to adapt. There have been seasons where life required me to slow down and rethink what success looks like, and that’s made me even more intentional about creating work that’s meaningful and sustainable.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. One thing I have learned is that the easy way is rarely the right way that leads to something sustainable.
One of my biggest challenges has been learning to adapt when life doesn’t go according to plan. There have been times when personal and health related challenges forced me to slow down and redefine what success looks like. Instead of trying to fit into a traditional path, I’ve focused on building a business that’s flexible and sustainable because it is rooted in the things I genuinely love creating. As someone with neurodivergence and chronic illness, a traditional 9-5 never worked well for me. I needed to build something that would allow me the flexibility to rest when my mind and body need it and to drop the mask that I’ve worn for so much of my life trying to fit myself into that box.
I’ve also had to overcome the fear of putting myself out there. Content creation can be intimidating, especially when you’re sharing your creativity with the internet. There are always moments of self-doubt, algorithm changes, or wondering if anyone is even seeing and appreciating your work. I’ve learned that consistency and authenticity matter far more than chasing perfection. I spent a lot of time working on myself, particularly on my confidence to become someone who can accept scrutiny and criticism without it breaking through to the heart of who I am.
Another challenge has been embracing the fact that I don’t have to fit into just one box. For a long time, I worried that my interests were too varied. Eventually, I realized that the variety isn’t a weakness. It’s what makes Tinker’s Pandamonium unique. It lead me to carve out my own niche. A niche that allows me the freedom to explore, learn, grow, and stay engaged and excited about what I am creating. When the hyperfocus fades, I’ve made a niche that allows me to pivot so that I don’t burn out. Rather, I adjust the projects I am working on while keeping the common thread of creativity, kindness, authenticity, and expression that have become the cornerstone of my brand.
Looking back, every challenge has taught me something valuable. The challenges have made me more adaptable, more creative, and, more kind, more inclusive, and more appreciative of the community that’s grown alongside me. Those lessons have become one of the strongest foundations for both my business and who I am as a creator.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I like to joke that Tinker’s Pandamonium is as neurodivergent as I am.
I’m a content creator, makeup artist, cosplayer, diy maker, and creative entrepreneur who specializes in helping people see creativity and self expression as something that’s accessible to everyone. Whatever I am currently creating, my goal is always to create content that feels genuine, entertaining, relatable, and inclusive.
One of the things I’m most proud of is building a brand that reflects who I really am instead of trying to fit into a single niche. I love the intersection of artistry and storytelling, and I enjoy showing that it’s okay to have a lot of interests. Makeup can be art. Cosplay can build confidence. A funny video can brighten someone’s day. I love finding ways to combine those things into content that connects with people.
I think what sets me apart is my willingness to be authentic. I don’t believe creators have to present a perfectly polished version of themselves to make an impact. My audience gets to see the creative wins, the learning curves, the occasional chaos, and the joy that comes from trying something new. That honesty has helped me build meaningful connections with my community and those relationships are what I’m most proud of.
Many of my hobbies could easily become prohibitively expensive or exclusive of people with specific support needs. Cosplay in particular can be ridiculously expensive or become difficult to participate in if you have mobility limitations for instance. I strive to find ways to make those types of hobbies accessible to and inclusive of everyone.
At the end of the day, I hope people leave my content feeling inspired to embrace their own creativity, even if it looks a little unconventional. If I can make one person smile, laugh, be comforted, or build confidence in their self expression; if I’ve encouraged someone to try a bold makeup look, make a costume, start a new hobby, or simply feel more comfortable being themselves, then I’ve done what I set out to do.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
People are usually surprised to learn that I’m professionally trained in education , theatre, business, and culinary arts. It sounds like the setup to a very strange joke, but somehow all four ended up being exactly what I needed to become the creator I am today.
At first glance, those experiences seem completely unrelated, but they’ve all shaped the creator I am today. Theatre taught me storytelling and gave me interpersonal skills I wouldn’t have developed otherwise. Culinary school taught me attention to detail and creating under pressure. Business gave me the tools to build a brand. Education deepened my understanding of people and authentic connection. Every chapter has found its way into the work I do now.
I think people also assume that because I create colorful, fun, and sometimes over-the-top content, everything comes easily. In reality, I’m constantly learning new skills, experimenting, and pushing myself outside my comfort zone. Some of my favorite projects started with me thinking, “I have absolutely no idea how to do this… but I’m going to figure it out.”
That’s really the heart of Tinker’s Pandamonium. It’s not about being an expert at everything. It’s about staying curious, embracing creativity, expressing yourself authentically, and giving yourself permission to keep learning.
