Rising Stars: Meet Frederick Privette of Morrisville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Frederick Privette.

Hi Frederick, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started making confections because I wanted something different. I was classically trained as a Chef, and I wanted to be at the top of my game.
My first product was the Smorz Krunch. I made over 700 samples. Out of the 700, only 10 people did not like them—those people we not fans of marshmallows. I went back to the 10 with the Graham Cracker Delite, who loved them.

The pandemic slowed us down because we could not purchase our raw materials. I had to close shop along with losing my job as a Chef. I switched to the delivery business and did gig work to make ends meet. I noticed shopping all the different brands of ice cream. I also noticed that 90% were the same flavor. I went into Chef mode. Rebrand our product(s) as “Krumbles”. I believe KPkandies can make a difference in the ice cream business. People want something different, and KPKandies has that.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Obtaining capital and my health has been issued in the past. In 2007 I had a heart attack and went through a near-death experience. That alone made me realize I need to make major changes in my life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Chef that specializes in confections. We are known for our Smorz Krunch, Graham Cracker Delite. Before the pandemic, we added two more flavors. Peanut Toffee Krunch and Simply Vanilla. All our products were successful.

We are known for our crunch and sweetness. That’s why our tagline is “Our Sweetness Is Your Weakness.”

I am most proud of how our product has lasted the test of time with little marketing. When I set up shop, and people see our logo, they remember when and where they tried our product for the first time. They purchase more because they know we’re are not in stores.
There are a lot of chocolate-covered Graham Crackers and S’mores on the market. But only one! That has roasted pecans and rice crisp. I took my passion as a Chef and put it into confections. Any product that comes from KPKandies comes from the mind of Chef Fred.

We are looking to license our product(s) to larger confection companies that are looking for new products to add to there product line.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Now that I switched to the delivery field, most people I work with do not know I am a Chef/Entrepreneur. When I tell them I make a confection, they all ask for a sample.
