Hi Genice, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A child of God, a proud mom of two amazing young adults, and yes—a joyful Gigi! I’ve always had a love for the color purple and a deep passion for bringing joy to others through celebration. One of my favorite scriptures is Proverbs 3:5–8, which reminds me to trust God in all things.
And who doesn’t love a surprise—especially a beautiful one? That’s exactly why I chose the name *Beautiful Surprise Events.* I want every client to experience that same joy and delight, knowing they were supported from start to finish with care, creativity, and purpose!
I was born and raised in upstate New York, and from an early age, I discovered a love for planning, coordinating, and designing events. I quickly became the go-to person in my family for all things celebration—because isn’t that how it always starts?
After relocating from New York to North Carolina, I began planning and decorating events for friends and members of my congregation. That experience led me to complete an Event Planning course at a local community college, and from there, my passion for transforming spaces only deepened.
In February 2020, I officially launched Beautiful Surprise Events & Decor. Since then, I’ve continued to grow through education and hands-on experience in this ever-evolving industry.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Launching a business at the start of the pandemic came with its challenges—limited opportunities to connect with venues, wedding professionals, and couples made things especially tough. However, during that time, I focused on refining my skills through various design projects, creating tablescapes, and experimenting with balloon art, which helped me grow creatively and prepare for the journey ahead.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a wedding & event coordinator. With the recent revamp, the focus is now on professional wedding and event coordination. We’re excited to bring your vision to life by managing the details, timelines, and vendor communication—so you can truly enjoy your moment. Whether it’s a wedding, milestone birthday, or corporate gathering, we are here to make your special day a beautiful surprise!
My deep love for God truly sets me apart, inspiring me to approach every event with heart, joy, and purpose. I strive to create personalized, meaningful experiences that reflect each client’s unique personalities and preferences. Whether it’s a wedding, milestone birthday, or corporate gathering, I believe God’s love shines through the work I do.
