Rising Stars: Meet Hailey Benton of Apex

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailey Benton

Hi Hailey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a part of the beauty industry. It started with makeup in elementary school. Eventually during covid, I started coloring my friends hair, then my own. We went through every color of the rainbow and that is when I found my passion. After high school I immediately went to cosmetology school. When I graduated I worked in another local salon for about 6 months, but ultimately I know I would thrive being on my own. I decided to open a salon suite, to give myself and clients privacy. Plus who wouldn’t rather be their own boss! I haven’t looked back since and every day I find myself having more of a passion for the industry.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not. Especially since I hadn’t planned and prepared before opening my business. I struggled financially and with clients at the beginning. Since I was only 6 months out of hair school, I hadn’t built up much of a clientele yet, certainly not enough of one to keep me financially stable. If it wasn’t for my families support I never would have been able to make my dreams a reality.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a hairstylist based in Apex, NC. I specialize in Blonding, lived in color, and extensions! I am so proud of how I have improved over the years and how mature I have become from being in this business, in salon and out!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I am only 20 years old! Everyone thinks I am older haha.
