Rising Stars: Meet Jana Olecka of North Raleigh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jana Olecka.

Hi Jana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my business when my kids were little and I needed a creative outlet. I was missing my family back in Czech Republic and knitting was the way to feel connected to the family traditions across the world.
It evolved into something much bigger over the years, a community around something creative that so many people around the world enjoy doing.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was not a smooth road and it still isn’t. I have to figure out everything business related literally on my own, in a foreign country. It definitely felt satisfying when pieces fell into place.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Creating is a way of life for me, that’s how I express myself. Nature, it’s colors , seasons, landscapes all of it are my biggest inspiration.

What matters most to you? Why?
To be able to create freely, my authentic way every day.
