Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Jacobs.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My business journey started with a love for creating things with my hands and a desire to build something that was truly my own. What started as an interest in making soap eventually grew into Simply Native Soaps, a small business where I could combine creativity, tradition, and my passion for natural, handmade products.
In the beginning, I was learning everything as I went—experimenting with recipes, figuring out what people loved, making mistakes, and constantly improving. I started with soap and slowly expanded into body oils, perfumes, colognes, beard oils, and other handmade products.
As the business grew, I realized that Simply Native Soaps was about more than just selling a product. It became a way for me to share a piece of myself, my creativity, my values, and my community with other people. Being a small, handmade business also allows me to be intentional about sustainability, including reusing materials whenever I can and finding ways to reduce waste.
Today, I’m proud of how far Simply Native Soaps has come. I’m still learning, still growing, and still dreaming bigger, but I’m grateful that something that started as a passion has become a business that represents who I am and what I believe in.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have definitely been difficult seasons. Running a small business isn’t always glamorous, and there have been times when I’ve questioned whether I could keep going. But every time someone supports my business, tells me they love a product, or comes back to purchase again, it reminds me why I started.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My daily is as an Epic Clinical analyst with certifications in Epic Ambulatory, Epic Order Transmittal, Epic Phoenix and badges in Epic Inbasket, Epic Core Analyst, and Epic Health Maintenance. I have a bachelors in computer science and a masters in business administration with a concentration in healthcare administration.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is definitely family trips in the summer to white lake. We would all go swimming together at the lake and watch fireworks together
