Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelli Lannom.
Hi Kelli, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my career in esthetics over 10 years ago, specializing in makeup and brow waxing. But after a few years I realized I loved waxing more then makeup and really honed in my skills to making the experience of being waxed the least painful and uncomfortable as possible.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Throughout this journey in my career, I have fought my addiction to alcohol. Lost over 100 pounds after I finally got sober. Paid off mountains of credit card debt accumulated over the worst times of my addiction. And I’ve also dealt with the loss of my father to complications of his dementia during my first year of being in my own business.. And during all of that happening, the employer that I had worked at for many years, filed a lawsuit against me shortly after I left when all of my clients found me on their own through word-of-mouth. So during the first two years of being in business by myself, I was facing being newly sober, my father dying from dementia and a lawsuit that was trying to take me down. But my mission always stayed the same with making sure I had the best experience for my clients at my studio. I finally settled out of court this past December, and I’ve hit the ground running to make my studio the place where people can feel the safest and the happiest while getting waxed. The art of waxing is my life and is the happiest part of my day! The clients that I have and the new ones that have found me are what keep me going and persevering.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I think what I love most about what I do is that I tailor my skills to fit my clients needs. I don’t wax everyone the exact same or take the exact same amount of time to wax people. I book a lot more time per service than most professionals to make sure I do the absolute best for my clients. I change my technique quite often to fit their needs. I’m always upfront about expectations and the results I can give or can’t give. The wax I use I have formulated by a company for highly sensitive skin like my own. I wax in very small strips to reduce the irritation and hair breakage that often happens during waxing.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am on the autistic spectrum and have ADHD. I was homeschooled my whole entire life due to my difficulty of hyper focusing and executive dysfunction.
