Rising Stars: Meet Khalil Harrison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Khalil Harrison.

Hi Khalil, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers. 
I started off in the church a few years back. I remember being put on the camera to record the sermons and having zero clue on what I was doing. It did not take me long to get a hang of it, and I started to see myself grow as a camera technician. My love for cameras came because my pastor put me on the camera that one day. I started making films because me and my best friend love movies, and with my camera abilities and his writing, we came up with an idea to create our own films for the fun of it, and that is how Prophecy Films was born. I feel that we are just getting started and have a lot to share with the world through the stories we are creating. 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This road has not been smooth at all, but I am loving every bit of it. Being in the film is very tedious due to scheduling and the time that it takes to create a project. With every project that I have worked on and created with my team, I have learned something new. I love learning new ways to achieve what I want, and me being willing to learn from my mistakes is only going to make my work better in the future. 

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an acrylic painter, digital artist, photographer, and filmmaker. What I am most proud of is finding a strong community that appreciates me and what I can do. It is a wonderful thing to have a group of supportive people who are trying to achieve the same thing but still want you to achieve your goals just as much as they want to achieve theirs. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I am lucky enough that God has given me the ability to have a creative mind and the abilities to make art no matter how long of a break I take. I am able to take a break from a medium and jump back in as if I have never left or come back even better.
