Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristie Rucker.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been a business owner since 2018. I first got into the interest of graphic design in 2021. During March 2018 I started selling skincare and beauty products, in which I still currently do along with my graphics business. ReddzWay LLC Cosmetics is my beauty and skincare business. I took a slight break at the end of 2020 with my graphics business and rebranded my business, and then Graphics By Callie resurfaced.
I was always fascinated with drawings, paintings and was interested in textures and colors, but the thing about my fascination is that I could not draw. (LOL).
But I have always been computer savvy; I started doing simple design work on the computer and started discovering different apps and things to help me along the way; I also did my research.
With my interest following two of my favorite YouTubers, Kylashi and Megan Weeks, they gave me the interest to start my business. I’ve always wanted to help others in any way possible, and this was my way of doing so.
I started teaching myself and watching them for tips and inspiration. I also started doing graphics for other small businesses and for my own business as well, and I realized that I loved it so much, so I started my graphics business.
I absolutely love what I do. I love being a self-taught graphic designer, it brings me great joy and the will to keep going when my clients are happy with the work, I’ve created for them.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth ride. I had major doubts about my designs; I was always worried about what if people don’t like my work. How will people portray me. Wondering if I don’t get the exposure I deserve. Everything you could think of I had that thought. But then I realized that I just need to start the business and put my work out there.

I am a self-taught graphic designer/ businesses owner who creates logos, flyers and specializes in website development, branding, and marketing.
I am best known for my logo creations, flyer designs, and overall brand identity.
I am proud of my accomplishments of teaching myself how to do graphics, learning from other creators, and learning from running my own skincare brand how to deliver marketing tactics.
I set apart from other designers because I actually truly care about what my clients want. Some other designers like to design without considering their clients’ opinion and vision. I know this because I’ve worked with designers who have treated me as such. I said to myself I did not want to be that type of graphic designer.
What makes you happy?
Designing and being around family and friends who truly love me makes me happy. I love positive energy and being around people who have the same mindset and goals as myself.
