Kyng, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2021 I started carving out my place in R&B and Soul with a sound rooted in emotion, authenticity, and undeniable artistry. My journey from an aspiring artist to a charting, award-winning performer is a testament to persistence, self-belief, and the willingness to turn personal experiences into music that connects with people.
Rather than chasing trends, I has built my identity around telling real stories after a bad relationship I was in. My music blends the timeless soul of R&B with a modern perspective, creating songs that speak to love, heartbreak, growth, ambition, and the experiences that shape us.
The road to success wasn’t built overnight. I continued developing my craft, refining his my sound, and learning how to turn my vision into a complete artistic brand. Every release, performance, and accomplishment became another step toward establishing myself as an artist to watch.
That dedication has translated into chart success and award recognition, marking me as more than just an emerging voice. I’m an artist building a lasting legacy.
Today, The Kyng Hayes brand represents what can happen when talent meets discipline and determination. With my sights set even higher, I continue to evolve musically while staying connected to the soul and emotion that brought listeners to my music in the first place.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road wasn’t smooth at all. When I first started out it was difficult due to me being an openly gay black man in the south. There was a lot of judgement and a lot of cliques. I had to learn discipline and create my own road instead of trying to fit in with the crowd to get to where I am today. I created a show called “The New R&B” on YouTube to follow my journey and it helped me a lot with gaining a great audience by them seeing the struggles I went through and still go through today.

My work is rooted in R&B and Soul, where I specialize in creating music that is deeply emotional, authentic, and relatable. As an award-winning and charting artist, I’ve built my identity around using my voice, storytelling, and real-life experiences to connect with people on a deeper level.
I’m known for bringing emotion and honesty into my music while still maintaining a distinctive sound and presence. Whether I’m creating a record about love, heartbreak, growth, ambition, or life’s struggles, I want listeners to feel something and not just hear a song.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come and the fact that I’ve been able to turn my passion into a growing career. Every accomplishment, from receiving recognition and awards to charting, represents years of dedication, perseverance, and believing in myself even when the journey wasn’t easy.
What sets me apart is that I’m not trying to simply follow what’s popular. I’m focused on building something that represents who I am as an artist. I bring a combination of vulnerability, confidence, soul, and individuality to my music. My goal is to leave an impact and to create songs that people can attach memories and emotions to and that continue to resonate long after the music stops playing.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Absolutely. For me, the biggest thing is not looking for someone to simply “take you under their wing.” Look for people who are already doing something you want to accomplish and build a genuine relationship with them.
And especially as an artist, your reputation is part of your networking. People remember whether you were professional, respectful, prepared, and easy to work with.
