Rising Stars: Meet Lindsay Moses of Raleigh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Moses.

Hi Lindsay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a graduate of Northwestern University in Chicago and that is where my career began. I was always an athletic person and gravitated towards working with an athletic population. I spent the first half of my career working in the orthopedic rehab world and although I enjoyed many aspects of that, I always felt like something was missing. Fast forward a few more years to the birth of my first child. It was following his birth that my doctor recommended I seek care from a pelvic floor physical therapist. My eyes widened when she said that because quite frankly, that was not a niche of PT on my radar. It just wasn’t part of my education in grad school (early 2000’s) and so the idea of someone in my field specializing in something so important and unique really intrigued me. So my introduction into the world of women’s health physical therapy was as a patient, and not as a clinician. And I am so grateful for that experience because I really think it has helped me relate better to my patients, having been on the other side of it all myself, way back when.
Not long after that experience, I had the opportunity to pivot into the world of women’s health upon relocating to North Carolina. I was fortunate enough to start my Pelvic Health career here in North Carolina, being mentored by an excellent physical therapist who believed in me, and was willing to take me under her wing. In 2024, I decided to establish HER Body PT in an effort to offer physical therapy services to women in the area who were wanting a more concierge experience in the comfort of their own home. For obvious reasons, many women feel more at ease in their personal space, which makes it easier to open up about some of the intimate issues that are generally discussed. This has also been a great opportunity to serve women who would otherwise have trouble coordinating childcare and navigating busy work schedules to get into an office setting for a visit. I have really enjoyed getting to treat women in their homes, as it has allowed me an extra glimpse into some of the pitfalls that may be symptom drivers.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Launching the business was rough at the beginning because I am definitely not a techy individual, and the idea of building a website and establishing an LLC and marketing felt like a daunting task.
Social media/marketing aspect of things has also been a challenge. Mainly because in the past, I have only used social media as a connection point with friends and the idea of videoing myself, talking about very intimate topics was uncomfortable. I was pretty hard on myself at the beginning and spent a lot of time adjusting filters and doing 20 retakes before settling on a reel, but I have definitely gotten a little more comfortable over time and more focused on delivering important and helpful content, rather than obsessing over the quality and aesthetic of the reel itself.
Of course there has also been the additional challenge of operating a small business, delivering quality care to my patients and parenting, all at the same time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a physical therapist with over 20 years of experience, who specializes in pelvic floor rehabilitation for women. I am a certified pregnancy corrective exercise specialist and do enjoy working with women in the postpartum phase of life. I also really enjoy working with women that are entering into perimenopause because that is something I can personally relate to. Perimenopause is a time of transition and that can come with many physical changes that unfortunately can have a negative impact on quality of life. I love to be in a position to educate women about things that they can do to protect themselves during that transition and gear up for the next phase of life, feeling strong and confident and comfortable in their body.
I am so grateful that over the course of my career I have been able to help thousands of people have a better quality of life. One of the things I’m most proud of is being able to connect with my patients in a way that feels genuine and relatable, while always maintaining professionalism. I want my patients to feel comfortable, heard, and like they have a safe space to be themselves, and I think that sense of trust and connection is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

Some of the issues that I treat include urinary incontinence, pain with intercourse, constipation, pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti, urinary urgency and frequency and other Pelvic Health related conditions.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the power of simply giving someone a safe space to talk. Sometimes, being able to openly discuss difficult experiences that may be contributing to their symptoms can be therapeutic in and of itself. I’m also passionate about educating women about pelvic health in a way that empowers them to better understand their bodies and take care of themselves. My goal is never to have a patient depend on me for months on end, but to give them the knowledge, tools, and confidence to ultimately become independent in their own self-care. Education is key and I am grateful to be in a position to deliver that to those open to learning more.
