Rising Stars: Meet Matthew Page of Downtown Raleigh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Page.

Hi Matthew, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Matthew Page and i’m the owner of The Tea Room, a salon studio in Downtown Raleigh. I started cosmetology school in 2020 as an effort to break my streak of working jobs that didn’t fuel my creative passion and my love for taking care of people. Pretty quickly after, I began assisting in salons for 2 years before graduating and hitting the floor as a stylist. Flash forward not even 2 years behind the chair building my clientele and I ventured out as an independent stylist. As I approach 6 years in the industry, I’m extremely grateful for the support of my clients and mentors who I could not have grown without.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Far from it! I felt like I had trouble finding my direction in this industry. There are so many paths you can take and I struggle with indecisiveness. Allowing myself room to make mistakes and give myself grace has helped a ton in figuring out who I am as a stylist and person.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an independent hairstylist specializing in low-maintenance color, specifically brunettes but I turn out lots of blondes too!

I’m most proud of taking risks that have allowed me to create a business reflective of who I am and what I love.

I believe my ability to connect with others is a strength that sets me apart from the rest. I truly enjoy learning and becoming a part of my clients’ stories. It gives a deeper meaning to what I do and how it impacts others.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Word of mouth plays a major role in growth in this industry. Book an appointment and share your experience with your social media followers, friends, family, and beyond. All are welcome at The Tea Room!
