Today we’d like to introduce you to Niah Owens
Hi Niah , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story started as a young girl at the time not having much confidence in thyself, I stopped looking at what society expects us to be or look like and found it within. I started my journey in high school when my mom enrolled me into Barbizon Modeling School for a few months and from high school I attended The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham for photography to get both aspects of being in front and also behind the camera. I then realized the depths of my passion and from there meeting some amazing photographers, artists, models and now close friends and family who have supported, mentored, and helped me get to where I am today. Featured now worldwide and I feel as though I’m just getting started!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would be lying if I said it was a smooth road, but I’ve learned that God will never put to much on you than you can bare. I have had many pauses in my career because of life, moving from state to state, getting adjusted, and Covid especially did a number. None the less I would do it all over again because it built my character, made me stronger!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an independent model of 13 years, specializing in model coaching, pose etiquette, and also mentoring. I am known for my versatility, and always having a good playlist during my shoots or events. I am most proud of my optimism, not giving up when faced with challenges. I am ME, being comfortable in my skin, and always ready to create art! That’s what sets me apart from others,
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My advice would be in general is to do your research, be smart, ask questions, be open minded, be early because early is always on time, network! network! network! Someone is always watching. I myself am still searching for my forever mentor or in other terms a mother agent to take the next steps in my career. So far it’s a challenge but this way works for me and I tell everyone do what works for you, because everyone’s journey is so uniquely different.
