Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Maynard.
Hi Pamela, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started looking for unique jewelry on Etsy about 4 years ago. I was drawn to wire-wrapped rings. I didn’t want to pay $90 for one piece of jewelry when I could spend that at a craft store and make multiple rings for myself, so I spent several hundred dollars on wire, tools, and beads and started crafting for friends and family. About 3 years ago resin hit the craft world. I thought again, I can make that…so I did! I spent hours and hours making earrings, pendants, and rings for friends and family. I was eventually convinced by my family to try and open and Etsy shop and sell my pieces. It took almost a year for business to take off. Last year I decided to expand my repertoire to resin memorial pieces containing funeral or wedding flowers, ashes, and pet hair & opened a second Etsy store. Both shops have now become successful, thriving businesses, but I still work full-time for the State. I hope one day to be able to craft full-time. I’m not far away from that goal now!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing in the business world is smooth. My toughest hurdle was just getting those first few orders and getting my shops established. Once I did that, it was pretty much smooth sailing… other than the occasional catastrophe with resin. Resin has a mind of its own, and cannot be rushed when working with it. It has its own timeline of when it can be mixed, poured, and cured. Getting to know the rules of resin helped tremendously.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love what I do, I love my customers, & my customer service record is 5-stars! I’m known most for my Disney-inspired rings and Autism Awareness rings in my Pamela M Creations Esty shop, and ashes/fur resin preservation in my Making Memories by Pam Etsy shop. My Disney-inspired rings come in a variety of color combinations to make any wardrobe complete. My small heart with ashes or fur and alcohol ink also come in a variety of colors to make any family member happy.
What are your plans for the future?
I don’t have any big, immediate plans for the future at this time. Just business as usual I guess for now. I’m always looking to grow and expand, however.
