Rising Stars: Meet Apollo Custom Inc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Apollo Custom Inc.

Hi Apollo Custom Inc, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Very late 2018, Apollo Custom was incorporated to serve as the “custom firearm division” for our parent company – separated only by a single wall, corporate veil, and a sizable inequity in provided: direction, assistance, and staff opportunities for belonging and consideration. Through various trials and sometimes little outside support Apollo started to come into its own. Following the lead of the newly appointed President of Apollo, Jesse Tucker Grubbs, Apollo was put on a path to success. Proving the resilience of Apollo as only one employee from an old regime is left. Now with a strong crew of 10, Apollo has the dream team. Little by little, through the hard work put in by Jesse and the shop crew Apollo has grown quite a bit. Now having business with other companies and gaining more traction on social media. Getting Apollo one step closer to full autonomy. Being your one-stop shop for all your finishing needs. 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road to say the least. With Apollo starting off as a child company to our larger parent company, there has been a lot that Apollo has had to learn on our own. A lot of research has had to be done on the back end by sometimes only Jesse, where other companies have full teams to accomplish the same tasks. Similarly, the shop floor has undergone many revisions as the crew refines its processes and learns from past mistakes. With the shop floor leadership of Andre, our Floor manager Apollo has become a better well-oiled machine. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We strive to be a one-stop shop for different kinds of finishing needs. At the moment, we specialize in Cerakote coating application and custom engraving. We are able to apply that small shop attention to detail while giving wholesale customers the kind of volume expected from larger companies. Fully utilizing the creative minds at Apollo to create and execute unique color designs and next-level laser engravings. That is an aspect we are very proud of. Being able to fulfill larger orders while maintaining a high-quality standard. Being able to accomplish this in a timely manner sets us apart. 

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking.
Apollo definitely understands risk as necessary to get to where we want to go. As Apollo continues to separate itself from our parent company a lot of risk comes with that. Certain things that are already set it place by the parent company are having to be researched thoroughly and implemented by Apollo. Back-end infrastructure that is not even thought about being needed is having to be set up by Apollo. With our relatively limited experience and resources, this inherently comes with risk. With the leadership of Jesse and the team set in place, these challenges are being met head-on. Working together to grow Apollo and take it to where we all want to go.
