Rising Stars: Meet Robin Morgan of Galax

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Morgan.

Hi Robin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My photography journey began 9 years ago after my first son was born. Like a lot of new moms, I wanted to capture every little moment—so I started taking monthly photos of him at JCPenney. After about a year of that, my husband gifted me my first camera, and I immediately fell in love with being behind the lens. What started as just capturing memories for my own family quickly turned into something more.

At the time, I was a stay-at-home mom and we were (and still are) a military family, which meant moving often and starting fresh in new places. It was during one of those seasons that I met a fellow stay-at-home mom who ran a successful photography business. She was so involved in her kids’ lives while still pursuing her passion—and that lit a fire in me. She showed me that it was possible to chase a dream while still being present at home, and her encouragement gave me the push I needed to really go for it.

Now, I’m a homeschooling mom of three, and photography has become such a gift in my life. It allows me to stay home with my children while still building something of my own. This journey has been an absolute joy—from watching families laugh together to capturing seniors in one of the most exciting seasons of their lives, to documenting the beauty and emotion of wedding days.

I specialize in family, maternity, senior, and wedding photography, and my style is bold, vibrant, and full of life. I love capturing the genuine smiles, real connection, and those in-between moments that truly tell a story. I feel incredibly blessed to do what I do, and I’m so thankful for every person who has trusted me to capture their memories.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like most things worth doing, this journey has come with its share of challenges. One of the most defining moments in my life—and in my photography journey—was losing my brother unexpectedly last year. Grief is a journey all its own, and it changes you in ways you don’t expect.

His passing gave me a deeper perspective on the true value of photographs. I would give anything to have more pictures of the two of us together—more memories captured, more moments frozen in time, more images I could pass along to his children. That loss has poured so much more passion and purpose into what I do. I don’t take this job lightly—because I know firsthand how precious it is to have photos with the people you love.

Through the ups and downs, I’ve grown—not just as a photographer, but as a mother, a businesswoman, and a person. This journey has stretched me, refined me, and reminded me over and over again why I started. It’s not just about taking pretty pictures—it’s about capturing real, meaningful moments that families will treasure for a lifetime.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a wedding and portrait photographer with a heart for capturing families, maternity, seniors, and weddings. My style is bold and vibrant—full of color. I want the people I photograph to see the beauty in themselves and in the season they’re in.

What truly sets my work apart is the foundation it’s built on—my faith. I believe every person is Made in His image, and it’s an honor to reflect that truth through my lens. That belief shapes the way I serve my clients—with love, intention, and a deep appreciation for the life and connections I get to photograph.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the way people feel during and after their session. I aim to create a comfortable, fun experience where clients can relax, be themselves, and walk away with photos they truly treasure.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success isn’t about numbers or going viral—it’s about impact. It’s knowing that I’ve made someone feel seen, valued, and loved through the images I’ve captured. If a family hangs their photos on their wall and smiles every time they walk by them… that’s success. If a senior looks at their pictures and feels confident and proud of who they are… that’s success.

I also define success by how well I’m able to balance my roles—as a wife, mother, and businesswoman—while staying true to my values and faith. If I can grow my business while still being present with my children, serving others well, and keeping Christ at the center of it all, then I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
