Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Amara.
Hi Samantha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Photography started as a creative outlet, but it quickly became so much more than that. I fell in love with the idea that a single photograph could preserve a feeling, a relationship, or a moment that can never be recreated. What began as a passion eventually grew into a business centered around serving people during some of the most meaningful seasons of their lives.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing weddings, engagements, growing families, and portraits, and every session has taught me something new. I’ve invested countless hours into growing my craft, learning how to create an experience that feels relaxed and genuine, and helping people feel comfortable in front of the camera. My goal has always been to capture images that feel timeless and authentic. Photos that people will cherish not just today, but decades from now.
Today, I’m incredibly grateful to do what I love. Every couple and every family has a unique story, and it’s an honor to preserve those memories in a way that reflects who they truly are.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’ve had to learn how to wear a lot of different hats. Photography is only part of the job. You also become a marketer, editor, bookkeeper, customer service representative, and business owner all at once.
There have also been personal seasons that challenged me and shaped me. Walking through difficult experiences taught me resilience, empathy, and the importance of being fully present with people. Those experiences have made me a better photographer because I understand how valuable memories truly are.
Every obstacle has helped me grow, not just as a business owner, but as a person. Looking back, I’m thankful for those challenges because they’ve strengthened both my work and my heart for serving others.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in wedding and portrait photography with a focus on creating timeless, authentic images that allow people to relive some of the most meaningful moments of their lives. Whether I’m documenting a wedding day, an engagement, or a portrait session, my goal is always the same, to tell each person’s story in a way that feels genuine and true to who they are.
I think what I’m most known for is helping people feel comfortable in front of the camera. Most of my clients tell me they’re nervous or don’t know how to pose, and one of my favorite compliments is hearing them say, “That was actually so much fun.” I believe the best photographs happen when people can simply be themselves, so I focus on creating an experience that’s relaxed, joyful, and personal.
What sets me apart is that I care just as much about the experience as I do the final gallery. I take the time to get to know my clients, learn what’s important to them, and serve them well from our first conversation until they receive their images. I want every couple and every family to feel seen, cared for, and celebrated.
What I’m most proud of isn’t just the photographs I’ve taken, it’s the trust my clients place in me. Being invited into some of the biggest moments of someone’s life is something I never take for granted. Knowing that the images I create will become part of a family’s legacy for generations is both humbling and incredibly rewarding, and it’s what inspires me every time I pick up my camera.
What matters most to you?
People matter most to me.
Beautiful photographs are important, but what matters even more is how people feel throughout the experience. I want my clients to feel seen, celebrated, and comfortable enough to simply be themselves. Some of the most meaningful images happen in the quiet, unscripted moments. The genuine laughter, happy tears, and the little interactions that tell the real story.
I also believe that the relationships we build are just as important as the photographs we create. My hope is that every client walks away feeling loved, not just because they have beautiful photos, but because they felt values throughout the entire process.
At the end of the day, photos become part of a family’s memory book. Knowing that the photos I capture will be looked at for generations is something I never take for granted, and thats what inspires me every time I pick up my camera!
