Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracy Alford.
Hi Tracy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Some partnerships are written in the stars — or in this case, arranged by desk placement.
It was January 2017 when Amy, a talented wedding photographer volunteering to plan the Town Parade, and I, a middle school teacher on a one-year break from the classroom, first met at the Zebulon Chamber of Commerce. Fate (and the Chamber) placed our desks side by side, and before long, a shared passion for our community — and a spark of creative synergy — began to take shape.
We spent our days planning events, always with one goal in mind: making Zebulon a little more magical. In the midst of our many conversations, we discovered a surprising connection — we had both worked in bridal boutiques during high school. One glance, one knowing smile, and the words slipped out almost at the same time: “We could open our own bridal boutique.”
The idea was a little far fetched, but we knew dreams need more than enthusiasm. We dove headfirst into research, visited local banks, and met with the ever-supportive Brian Bullock — the landlord who would help make our vision possible. Six months later, in July 2018, our dream came to life at 100 E Vance Street in Zebulon, NC.
We hoped to serve at least 100 brides in our first year. Instead, we tripled that number, a humbling and exhilarating sign that we were right where we belonged. For four wonderful years, that charming location was our home.
In 2022, opportunity knocked again — this time, with the chance to purchase our very own building in nearby Wendell. The new space doubled our square footage, allowing us to welcome more brides, expand our team, and dream even bigger.
Our work has taken us to Atlanta, Chicago, Florida, and New York in search of gowns that are as unique as the women who wear them. Along the way, we’ve proudly become one of Maggie Sottero’s top-selling boutiques in the nation.
And we’re not done yet. With the launch of The Blushing Bride podcast, hosted by our incredible stylists Gaby Cabrerra and Kristine Ramirez, we’ve found a new way to share our love for bridal fashion, celebrate our brides, and connect with women beyond our boutique walls.
From a pair of neighboring desks to a bustling bridal destination, our journey has been one of friendship, vision, and a shared belief that every bride deserves to feel her most beautiful. At Simply Blush Bridal, that’s the magic we strive to create — every single day.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Our two greatest challenges came right at the start — first, convincing our husbands that this dream could truly become a thriving reality, and second, finding a local bank willing to believe in our vision enough to invest in it. Once we got those green lights, there was no stopping us. We’ve been moving forward ever since.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Simply Blush Bridal is in a league of its own! From the moment you walk in, we make our brides feel seen, heard, and celebrated.
What truly sets us apart is the way we make every bride feel like they are the only bride in the room. We see countless women every week, yet our attention, care, and excitement make them feel like our entire team just for them. Our gowns are high-quality, thoughtfully curated, and our selection offers something for every style and body type.
We are more than just a bridal shop — we are an experience worth every mile of the drive. You will leave not only with your dream dress, but with memories you’ll cherish forever.
What were you like growing up?
Tracy grew up as an only child with two big dreams: to be a grocery store cashier and to get married. Her love for weddings started early—so much so that she named her cats Bride and Groom and held elaborate “weddings” for them in the living room. When she was old enough to earn a $5 allowance, she would head straight for the bridal magazine section, eager to rush home, tear out her favorite pages, and tape them proudly to her closet door. Always ready for the next adventure, Tracy carried that same excitement and creativity into everything she did.
Amy grew up in a bustling military family as one of four children, her childhood marked by moves all up and down the East Coast, making friends along the way, and even storybook England. Surrounded by adventure and change, she carried one constant dream in her heart—to become a mother. Today, that dream has come full circle as she proudly raises four children of her own, filling her home with the same love, laughter, and sense of adventure she cherished growing up.
