Rising Stars: Meet Veena Ramesh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veena Ramesh.

Hi Veena, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today. 
My name is Veena Ramesh, I’m a Software Engineer, Reiki Master, Chess Teacher, Brand Ambassador, Fashion Model, and a mom of 2 teens. I born and brought up in India when I was in 8th grade in 1994, Aishwarya Rai and Sushmita seen won the crown as Miss World and Miss Universe during that time I thought they are beautiful that’s why they won the title. In 2000 I was in college following women’s era and famina magazine during that time, Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta won the Miss World and Miss Universe title same time Diya Mira’s won Miss Asia Pacific title, these women’s are inspired me these titles for women empowerment and inspiring the community. From there, my journey started in Pageant field. I participated in many pageants and won many sash n titles. I learned lot in my pageant journey. I won

17. I participated in Newyork Fashion week 2022 and 2023. My pictures displayed on Billboard at time square.

18. Featured in Rainbow and Sunshine movie as side role.

19. Worked as a Brand Ambassador for Modela, Dunkins, Tabitha Brown brand and Cetaphil in collaboration with Target.

20. Participated in runway shows like Rock the Runway, Beauty is pain, fashion with Twist, NC Fashion Expo.

These titles and shows are gave me recognition and many interview from newspapers. My main goal is helping to poor people, inspire and empower the women’s throughout world and continue my Fashion as a passion. I does lots of volunteer work for the non-profit organization.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It is not smooth road, Having a family with 2 teenagers, I faced many failures in my pageant journey, I decided not to give up until I win the crown, At the age of 40, I won many crowns and participated at NYFW. Failures brings me more experience and boosted my confidence.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a full-time software engineer, I love my work. In my free time I teach chess n go for modeling. I’m a mom of 2 teens. Most proud of winning many crowns at the age of 40 and become a model, I featured in many magazines, too. 

What does success mean to you?
Success is not easy way, we need to work hard, come out from our comport zone, should have goals and determination. Confidence is the key to win the success. There is lot of learning in this journey, we need adopt it quickly. We should be very flexible to adopt the changes too in this journey.
