Shalice of Raleigh on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Shalice and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Shalice, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
I’ve definitely been glad that I didn’t act fast during the process of creating my 2nd edition magazine of Vibrancy.
However, I can admit that there were some points throughout that process when I had the urge to.
I feel like the urgency would come from simply being excited to physically form the vision that I had been seeing in my mind for months. There’s just something about creating that lights me up in that way but I definitely encountered moments where I felt forced to ground myself. I’d like to say that having these moments were reminders from God that everything will happen as it is meant to. Things like my father getting very sick & passing away in March of this year, 2025 & delays with photoshoot times led me to not have much of a choice but to tend to my life. In the midst of balancing all of that while creating Vibrancy Magazine 2, I had time to truly take in each moment in creating it that once it was time to release in August of this year, 2025. In the past I would move quickly because there was apart of me that was just eager to see the end result but all of this has since taught me that each moment along the way is special & sacred. Rushing through only takes away the awareness of all of the magic constantly manifesting all around us. To this day, I’m grateful for that moment. It served as a reminder to slow down & cherish the days as I go.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shalice & I am the founder & creator of Vibrancy Magazine as well as host of The Full Moon Circle.
I created my very own magazine where I model, write & creatively direct within it back in April of 2024. I’ve also created a wellness/spiritual event called The Full Moon Circle back in August 2023. Both of these endeavors are what I hold close to my heart as they are dreams I’ve set out to do that fulfill my happiness & purpose. I love them because they allow me to express the prominent sides of myself that I connect to on the daily.

Vibrancy Magazine is so special because I’ve always been a lover of fashion since I was kid. I would always dress up & play in makeup (when I wasn’t supposed to). It made me so happy to be able to experiment with different looks & create on my actual body. Especially with pieces that I would thrift. Since then I’ve never let that side of me go. Something about it just gets me excited every time. It’s simply fun so doing it as an adult is kinda how I got into modeling. As I got started, I was a natural at it. I was always in the mirror so being in front of the camera was no different. I studied & studied fashion icons of previous decades in my spare time. Reading/researching their stories fascinated me. Throughout that time I began coming up with photoshoot concepts for myself to do with different photographers in the area. I would have a blast on sets which transitioned me into having a moment where felt this urge to create my own magazine. Being into fashion so much as a kid & currently as an adult, I would have magazine clippings all over my walls. I figured why not create my own? Since then I’ve been enjoying the process of creating each one. Doing so, allows me to express that little girl inside of me who lived in her own world of fashion ( & still does.. haha)

The Full Moon Circle began in August 2023 as a community event where everyone who is interested gathers on or around the full moon & we take time to reflect on our lives & pause. Doing things like journal writing prompts, a healing activity such as yoga, pilates, coloring, etc. as well as my personal favorite & specialty which is doing the guided singing bowl meditation all aid in creating balance. Being a creative can feel stressful sometimes. Especially while still working a 9-5 job. Carving out time to pour into myself consistently was & still is a huge priority. It allows me to connect deeper to myself & God. Without those moments, I wouldn’t be able to show up for my purpose so it’s ESSENTIAL. I’m also extremely interested in spirituality so following the cycles of the moon always interested me which ultimately led me to creating this event. It’s so special because the people that come enjoy themselves as well as are able to get vulnerable. This creates a safe space to simply be themselves while also giving them what they may need. Being able to connect with each stranger is beautiful. It’s the definition of fostering true community.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me believed that she was small. I was always pretty shy & soft spoken growing up. I was taught to be humble & modest because drawing too much attention to myself was seen as a negative thing. However, now I’m unapologetically taking up space & shining as bright as I possibly can. That version of myself wasn’t fully aware of who she was but now that I know, all I can do is live in my truth. I’m super grateful for that part of me though. Now I am able to feel more balanced throughout my life.

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
I definitely miss the moments that I had with my father before he passed away this year. I think about them often. I miss being able to talk to him & just hang out with him. There’s apart of me that can feel like I didn’t spend as much time with him while he was here but then I remember that it’s not true. I don’t really talk about it often because I feel like this is something that is more of a personal journey but it for sure still lingers in my mind everyday.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m truly committed to following my dreams until I can’t anymore. Every path to them isn’t linear at all. Sometimes things can get tough & hard to understand but each time I look around in my life I couldn’t be happier with how things are constantly aligning. It inspires me to keep doing the crazy things that are outside of the box. Not only do they keep me excited but they also keep me confident in myself & my own path to success.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I would hope that people would say that I lit up each & every room that I stood in by being unapologetically myself & going after the things I wanted with confidence. I would want that to shed light on all the amazing things they can do in their own lives. Reminding themselves that they are worthy of their best life because showing up for what you want already solidifies their own greatness.
