We recently had the chance to connect with Shreya Gundam and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Shreya, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I love working out in the morning – either going to the gym or taking a walk!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shreya Gundam, and I am a recent college graduate now working as a software developer and the owner of ‘Rosebay Designs’. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved repurposing—turning old math notebooks into Christmas trees or napkins into Halloween masks. Specifically, my interest in sewing, passed down by my late grandmother, blossomed into an interest in creating doll dresses and coin purses with her leftover saree and kurta fabrics. What began as a personal outlet for creativity eventually grew into Rosebay Designs, where I now share my handmade pieces—including a growing collection of hand-beaded jewelry.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I co-led an initiative called The Legacy Project, where we interviewed “everyday” individuals in the community to share their stories and wisdom with younger generations. To my surprise, one of our interviewees, Dr. Mansukh C. Wani, turned out to be the scientist behind two of the major drugs used in cancer treatments that have saved millions of lives. That encounter reshaped how I now view new connections. It taught me to approach people with curiosity, to appreciate their stories, and to recognize the value and impact of every individual.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Thinking that there’s always someone out there who can do it better than me, whatever that may be. While that might sometimes be true, I’ve learned that each of us comes as a package—our personality, perspectives, and beliefs make us unique. So instead of comparing myself, I try to use my strengths in every way possible.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Cassey Ho. She was actually my earliest influence when I first got into fitness, but over time, it became less about the workouts and more about the way she approaches life. She’s the reason I’ve learned to let my heart, creativity, and authenticity guide my own journey. Her vulnerability and realness—a rare trait in public figures—along with her relentless commitment to staying true to her values, are what make her truly successful.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Trying to save so much money…. catch me in Thailand.
