Adrienne, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I think others are secretly battling mental health, but never say for different reasons. One for sure is the stigma, & negative attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors directed towards individuals with mental health conditions. It encompasses a range of harmful stereotypes, prejudices, and discriminatory actions that can significantly impact the lives of those affected. I’ve been there with lived experiences.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful is being on stage in front of a crowd speaking on mental health. The impact in the room, & the luves touch through lived experiences shared. Having people to break the silence and speak up was the goal, & to connect. Providing resources tp those that had no where to turn was the most fulfilling moment.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain after years being depressed, medicated & wanting to give up. Years later, I realize God put me here for a reason. Some storms we go through is a test of faith. He brought me through it, & for that I’m grateful. My testimony on stage, books, magazines , & featured on all media outlets helped others during their difficult time. This was a powerful timing for me to heal, & help others.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closet friends would say helping others mean alot to me. Advocating for those who can’t advocate for themselves is very important to me.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I honestly believe I am doing what I was called to do, after walking away from the airline industry, after battling depression with losing coworkers, friends during that awful plane crash in Washington D.C. Mental health is real, & if it goes untreated, & blind folded it can cause more damage to one’s well being.
