Story & Lesson Highlights with Anique Frederick of Greensboro

We recently had the chance to connect with Anique Frederick and have shared our conversation below.

Anique , really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Who are you learning from right now?
I am learning through life itself. Each person I meet, every situation I face, and every encounter I experience carries a lesson. I choose to take what serves me, grow from it, and keep moving forward.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Anique Frederick is a multifaceted creative whose artistry spans writing, visual art, sculpture, music, and professional makeup artistry. As a therapeutic art facilitator, she harnesses the power of creativity to nurture confidence, inspire self-expression, and promote mental wellness. Through her women’s initiative, Bloom—guided by the mantra “soft as petals, strong as roots”—Anique creates safe, empowering spaces where women can open up, celebrate themselves, and grow together in strength and authenticity. With every brushstroke, lyric, and creation, she transforms art into a tool for healing and self-discovery.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Having a supportive mother-daughter relationship has been the foundation of who I am today. The love, guidance, and strength I witnessed in my mother became the roots that shaped my own strong will and ambitious spirit. Watching her move through life with determination and grace showed me what it means to be a force, and in turn, I have carried her light within me. Her example not only gave me courage but also inspired me to emulate her resilience, her brilliance, and her unwavering belief in possibility.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
At first, I was embarrassed and even afraid to speak about my anxiety. It felt like something I had to hide, a weakness that weighed me down. But over time, I discovered that sharing my story was not only freeing for me, it opened the door for others to do the same. I began to infuse art into the healing process—not just for myself, but as a bridge to connect with others who also needed an outlet. What once made me feel small has now become one of the fuels behind my passion. My anxiety gave me a purpose: to build community, to create safe spaces, and to show how art can transform pain into power, and silence into self-expression.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I am deeply committed to Bloom because it embodies everything I hold valuable in life—growth, authenticity, confidence, and community. No matter how long the journey takes, I am determined to see it through. Bloom is not just an initiative; it is a reflection of my purpose, a living testament to the belief that healing and self-love can blossom through creativity. With patience and persistence, I will continue to nurture it, knowing that its impact will take root and flourish in the lives it touches.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most at peace when I am immersed in artistic projects, because art allows me to escape the noise of the world and sink into pure presence. The act of creating—whether painting, writing, sculpting, or singing—becomes a meditation, a space where my thoughts, emotions, and spirit align. In those moments, I’m not overthinking or chasing perfection; I’m simply flowing, expressing, and being. Art gives me balance, clarity, and joy, reminding me that peace isn’t found outside of me, but in the rhythm of creation itself.
