Moriah Brown shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Moriah, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Honestly, a normal day for me lately has looked like just trying to make it to the next. I don’t want to sound like a downer, but I also believe in being transparent. The past few months have been a lot—definitely challenging. I’m juggling a full-time job in public health, navigating the rising cost of living, and feeling the impact of having fewer opportunities and time for pop-up shops with my business.
It’s been a season of wanting to “live my best life” but also searching for the energy and space to do that. Most weekdays are packed from 9 to 5, and in between, I’m working through the emotional and mental weight that comes with burnout and change. I’m learning to give myself grace.
That said, I’m really looking forward to the upcoming holiday season—it brings opportunities to celebrate with family and friends, and I’ve had a few pop-up events in Greenville on the calendar since January in greenville that I’m excited about. On a typical day, I try to keep my spirits high by naming three things I’m grateful for, getting to the gym when I can, and using weekends for rest, weddings, and quality time with people I love. It’s a slower season, but I’m trusting that it’s all part of the process.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey, y’all! 🥰 I’m Moriah, the owner and heart behind Mossē Jewelry (pronounced maa•see). 💎
Mossē was born from a magical moment of friendship—getting matching permanent anklets with my best friend for our 26th birthdays. That experience was so special, I knew I wanted to recreate that same sense of connection and joy for others.
Starting Mossē wasn’t just a business decision—it was a labor of love. From the first deep-dive into research to finally ordering my welding equipment, every step has been filled with intention and heart. I’ve built this brand to be a reflection of passion, pride, and purpose.
What do I love most about running Mossē? The people. 🫶🏾 Whether it’s deep, authentic conversations with clients during appointments, laughing at funny stories, or the outpouring of support at pop-up shops and online, the community that surrounds this brand constantly reminds me why I do what I do.
Fun fact: Pop-up shops are my happy place! I love meeting other vendors, finding hidden gems, and just soaking in the creative energy. Supporting small and local businesses will always be close to my heart.
I am also currently working on finding opportunities for private parties and weddings! I would be honored to bring Mossē to your next girls night, birthday party or bachelorette party (don’t worry I have something blue just for you)
Here’s to more zaps, more connection, and more unforgettable moments. ✨
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that chases riches and people-pleasing. That version of me served its time, but over the past year, I’ve learned that the real treasure is living authentically and being at peace with who I am. I no longer want to chase the world—I want my world. A life filled with what brings me joy, and what allows me to pour love and light into others.
What serves me now is grace. Showing up as my best self in every space—whether that’s with my customers, family, friends, coworkers, or even strangers I meet on a random Target run (because yes, those moments matter too!). I’m focused on giving love, light, and meaningful experiences, and that feels like the most rewarding version of success.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Girl! Why are you stressing about the future and who you’re supposed to be? You already have everything you need inside of you. Trust that. Have more faith in the process—because you are only one person, and good things take time.
Progress doesn’t always look the same every day, and that’s okay. What matters is being thankful for each day, each opportunity, and choosing to move through life with love. You’re doing better than you think and I love you so much Riah!
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I would say my mom. As I’ve grown older, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of what it truly means to move with God, love, and determination in all that I do—and I see those qualities in her every day.
No matter what position or level of power she holds, she consistently leads with love, forgiveness, and a deep sense of compassion. She reminds me that everyone has a story, everyone has a struggle, and none of us are alone.
Her character has taught me that love sustains us. No matter the day or the challenge, we are blessed with another opportunity to love, to pour ourselves into our passions, and to keep showing up. That’s the kind of strength I admire most.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
That my greatest challenge has always been myself. For a long time, I doubted whether I was capable of managing a business or bringing genuine happiness to others through what I create. I wrestled with imposter syndrome, fear, and uncertainty.
But even through the tough seasons—the setbacks, the self-doubt, and the growing pains—I’ve always found joy in the journey. The opportunities to grow, to connect, and to bring light to strangers have been part of my healing and becoming.
My customers are such a meaningful part of that legacy. Through shared stories, honest conversations, and small moments of connection, they’ve helped strengthen me. I’ve never had it all, but I’ve always had everything I needed—and that’s enough.
