Story & Lesson Highlights with Shailyn Ramsey of Apex

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Shailyn Ramsey. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Shailyn, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Being a person with integrity is very important to me. I am big on honesty, being truthful, and doing what is right according to God. Your moral compass will take you farther in life than someone who lies and is manipulative. As a business owner, it is even more important that I am surrounded with like minded individuals who also live a life of integrity. What business owner would want partners, associates, and workers who aren’t truthful, who aren’t honest, and can’t own up to their mistakes? That could severely jeopardize your business. It is important that you also lead by example and be a man or woman of integrity. Be that person who also has morals, keeps their promises, isn’t hypocritical, and executes exactly what they say they will do.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shailyn Ramsey. I am a North Carolina native. I am the owner and founder of La Belle’ Beauty Bar which is a Christian-owned business. We are a one-stop-shop that offers a plethora of natural skin care products and beauty services. We are dedicated to providing a relaxing atmosphere where you can receive quality tailored services and products.

As an entrepreneur, I am always looking for new ways to grow in my faith with God and learn more ways on how to better give back to those around me. I do plan on expanding our service menu and adding more locations so more people can enjoy what we have to offer. As an expanding business, it is crucial to make sure every client leaves with a memorable experience and outlook. It is imperative that as we continue to grow, our reliance and faith in God also grows. He provides us with all that we need so we can give our clients only the best!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Our relationships with people matter! Everything you say and do can affect your bond with them. The way you treat people is a mere reflection of how you truly feel about yourself. It is important that you treat others how you want to be treated. You can easily sever your bond with someone simply in the way you negatively talk to them or treat them. If you do anything out of evil and malicious intent, it is an easy way to break your bond with someone.

We can also tarnish our relationships with people from mistakes but it is important that we take accountability for our wrongdoing. Always apologize and own up to anything you did that hurt someone whether it was intentionally or unintentionally done. Someone will really be able to restore a bond if they change their unprofitable ways. That is what comes with growing and maturing. Realizing where we went wrong so we can change our negative ways. We have to be more willing to forgive one another because nobody is perfect. Always make sure to be who you say you are and do what you say you are going to do. Follow through with your promises and put in the effort to show that person you are willing to fix what might have been broken.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have been many times where I almost gave up on things in my life including my business. When I started my business, I did not have the luxury of knowing what all to do. I had some knowledge of how to run a business but there were many things I learned along the way. The only reason I have made it this far is because of God! He held me together when there were many nights I didn’t have it all together. There were many nights where I was struggling physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually because I did not know how I was going to get through the storm. I wanted to throw in the towel on several occasions and just walk away for good but I couldn’t. I had to think about the people who are counting on me and believe in me. God gave me the strength to endure and push through. He got me through it all! He said he would make a way for me and he did just that. He made the impossible possible for me and that is why I will never give up!

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
The simple answer is YES. I am exactly who I say I am. I am that same person online as I am in person. I live as my authentic self and I don’t pretend to be someone that I am not. Things done in the dark will always get revealed to the light. It is way too hard to keep up a lie so why not just be yourself? Be unapologetically you and be who God called you to be! Be real. and walk in your purpose! When you are genuinely you, you will attract the right people who should be around you. When you live life wearing a mask, you attract people who are also living a factitious life. You are who you hang around. I only want to be around people who know who they were called to be and are living in truth like I am doing.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
There are many things in life that I wanted but it did not satisfy me when I got it. First and foremost, money is the root of all evil. So anything in regard to materialistic things is meaningless to me. It is nice to have but you still have a void that is not fully filled. You may think it’s best for you but it really isn’t and you end up disappointed. It can feel like it is not enough even though it is exactly what you wanted, so you thought. We may think we want something but really it was nothing to the extent of what we actually wanted. That is when I began to want what God wants for me so that I will always be filled, nourished, and satisfied. God sustains me and gives me all that I want. He will even give me things I never knew I wanted and needed. If you seek God and live for him wholeheartedly, you will be given all that you need and you will be satisfied. Truly I say, I am blessed and thankful to have a roof over my head, a car to drive, and food to eat. God provides me with everything I need and he will always sustain me for as long as I live.
