I started Training in Okinawa Karate and Weapons shortly before my 14 birthday. 1992? I am not sure of the date due to all my belongings being lost in a house fire (in my early 20s) after Hurricane Bertha. We had lost everything. I have experienced the benefits of Natural Medicine in my own health. Several years ago, my health was spiraling out of control. Graduated with a dental hygiene degree in 2004. Been in the dental field 30 yrs. In 2023, discovered it has been legal in NC, since a Supreme Court ruling in 2015, for teeth whitening to be completed outside of a dental office setting. I feel that my career really started as a camp counselor and EMT. While working with children at a day camp for six summers, I quickly realized the importance of supporting children with trauma and trauma-related behaviors. I grew up in Detroit, where life taught me resilience early. It wasn’t the easiest start, but it built the foundation for who I am today. After high school, I joined the U.S. Air Force, serving 20 years in law enforcement, instruction, and leadership roles; from teaching at the Security Forces Academy to serving as Superintendent at the Paul W. MORGAN COUNTER

As a former baseball player from youth through high school, I always had a love for the game and passion to pursue it as far as it would take me. My journey began around 2008 when a family member needed treatment for substance use and mental health issues. After treatment my family member had a desire to return to college safely. Breana van Velzen

In 1969, four congregations in downtown Durham, NC, organized the Center City Church Council to address together needs for transportation and visitation for the elderly, and soon also started programs for children and youth. Clyde Cooper founded our restaurant January 1st of 1938. Our business has remained in Downtown Raleigh ever since. We will be moving out of Downtown Raleigh beginning of 2026, however. My story was interesting pretty early in life as I required major surgery on my kidneys as an infant to correct birth defects! I thankfully was healthy after the surgery and have one functioning kidney (One Kidney Sydney has been a nickname of mine). The Cape Fear Ballroom Dancers (CFBD) have been promoting, supporting, and enjoying ballroom dancing since 1993. We create safe, elegant, fun, dance parties where singles and couples enjoy dancing classic steps like the foxtrot and waltz, as well as more current favorites like salsa and bachata. ​My journey began with a series of wake-up calls to gain my attention. The most pivotal was a near-death experience at 23 when I totaled my car. The airbag failed, sending me face-first into the steering wheel and requiring 17 stitches between my eyebrows. What saved my life wasn’t luck—it was a clear voice that urged me to put on my seatbelt moments before impact.
