I have been a Nurse Practitioner for 25 years and prior to moving to NC, I lived in Massachusetts and there I worked in a women’s health clinic for 17 years providing care to mostly underserved individuals. I loved it, but I was very interested in the beauty industry and had a love for for aesthetics. When my husband and I moved to NC in 2017 I decided to focus my job search as an aesthetic NP. I was lucky enough to get hired and trained by BodyLase and that is where my aesthetics journey began. I have been an injector at BodyLase since Febuary of 2018 and love this job so much! Read more>>

Like many small businesses, we started with a lot of heart but limited resources. We juggled full-time jobs while launching the shop, worked long nights perfecting recipes, and made tough decisions about where to invest our time and money. Finding the right team, navigating seasonal highs and lows, and learning to grow without losing our identity — those were all big challenges. Read more>>

Many women would make comments about wishing their makeup looked like mine or not being confident about how their makeup came out after application. This led me to create Set Your Beauty Standard. I wanted women to be encouraged to take control over what beauty meant in their lives and what would be the beauty standard they lived by. Years have passed now and I’ve shared my loc journey, my beauty journey, and parts of motherhood, wife hood, and life in general. I think in 2025, I’m in a transitional phase with my content and what my brand means, so I’m excited to see where I end up when this year comes to a close. Read more>>

I like to create lyrics that can help others. In many ways, I’d compare my sound to an audio therapy. I’m known for “Positive Energy”… this is where I got the name Proton. Other names like “Pro” came into play later in my career and social life. There’s just some special things that I’m good at. I’m most proud of the relationships in music that I’ve made along the way and landing shows to perform my originals. This is a milestone that was closer than I could’ve ever imagined. What sets me apart from others is my ability to write coherent lyricist stories and experiences on the spot and “off the dome”. Read more>>

From what first started as wanting to play the music that I like to dance to. It transformed into a want to start writing the music that I danced to. Because I spent so much time honing my craft, I quickly found my style. So I set out to create an outward identity that expresses my art, emotion and passions. As I continued on my artistic journey, I went through two iterations of my artistic identity and a third iteration that I’m currently representing. The first project was Luneffekt, the second Moontype, and the current version: VYNAVI. Read more>>

Fast forward a few years (and a few career pivots), I found myself deep in the digital marketing world—turns out, all that creative energy and strategy-building was the perfect recipe for running my own agency. So, I took a leap, left the corporate world, and launched Pulley Media to help businesses grow through paid ads and killer creative. At first, it was just me in yoga pants at the kitchen table—but today, we’re a global Google Premier Partner agency with clients all over the world. (Yes, there may still be yoga pants involved.) We started with a herd of five alpacas that another family had inherited and really didn’t want. We added a donkey for protection. Then came Angora goats, similar story to the alpacas. The farmer who had them no longer wanted them and was going to take them to market if no one purchased them. We added a couple of llamas for protection but also to see what could be made from their fiber. When we realized much alpaca yarn is blended with wool to add elasticity, we decided to add sheep to our farm. We let our grandchildren pick out lambs from a friend’s farm and then they began showing them at the State Fair. (Last year one of our ewes won grand champion in the youth division and was reserve grand champion in the adult division.) Read more>>

But healing isn’t a one-time event—it’s a journey. Years later, I found myself facing heartbreak and betrayal in my marriage. It rocked me to my core, and my entire world collapsed. Overall, I have been so blessed and the journey has been as smooth as life can be. I truly believe God has appointed this to be my calling and to poor into each and guest and show Christs love through my work. I just love what I do, and it’s been incredibly rewarding. I’ve been lucky to have a supportive family who fostered my passion. I went to hair school during high school, graduating with both my high school diploma and my cosmetology degree. While in pre-licensing school my grandfather fell very ill. At this time my family all pitched in to help as much as we could. I ultimately ended up taking FMLA from my job and continued on with my pre licensing class. Each day I would have to spend around 6-7 hours with my grandparents getting them to doctor appointments, cleaning, running errands etc. There was little time to study as I also have an 8 year old son. But I am a firm believer in God and know that he can and will sustain us if we keep him first. Long story short through much prayer, fasting, studying and reading the bible I PASSED the class, NC & State exam all on the first try. The road was definitely a little bumpy but I stayed the course and didn’t give up. Read more>>

So, I created what I wish I had: simple, sustainable systems for real moms living real (busy!) lives. My business began with one-on-one clients, then expanded into programs like The Great Days For Mom Method — a signature approach where in 90-days, I help moms carve out just 2% of their day to focus on their physical, emotional, and mental health. In 2020 when the world shut down, I was working as a Landscape Designer in Philadelphia, PA, working remotely and feeling mighty isolated. With this extra free time, I became keenly aware that I was learning a lot, I was working on world-class projects, and designing special spaces, but I was unhappy – I missed working with plants and people. I took advantage of a pretty liberal work-from-home policy and moved back home to NC to be with my family. I thought long and hard about the things that have continually brought me joy over the years, and I kept coming back to working hands-on with plants. I wrote out a business plan and decided to start my own business. Read more>>

While Daniel Callender and Dean Kelley are both former United States Marines, the pair didn’t actually meet during their time in the service. My art story has been going on for 30+ years now (sounds crazy reading that out loud); I’ve created since I was a baby, always gravitating towards crayons and finger paints. After working with several mediums throughout the years, I enjoy them all but I really shine with digital art. Interestingly enough, most of my inspiration comes from my lucid dreaming that started when I was 8 or 9. Video games, cats, robots, astronauts, and other nerdy things inspire the rest. Read more>>

The methodology for my MA research included oral histories, participant observation, and talanoa, a Pacific concept that values the interviewee’s time and community duties. In talanoa, the researcher conducts their study during the context of the interviewee’s day and may assist them with their duties and responsibilities to be less intrusive. One conclusion of my research was that locals in the Big Island community are agentic actors (meaning they make a choice to act on their own behalf) in cultural sharing through tourism. Read more>>

My two older brothers would draw a lot, and although I don’t remember much of it, I often drew alongside them as a child. Honestly after just burn out of trying to juggle dance and fitness for most of my adult life I was seeking something a little deeper. I was searching for something that I just couldn’t seem to find. I was looking for somewhere that I could belong, unapologetically. A place where I could show up as myself, whatever that meant day-to-day. I was craving a place where I could move my body in a way that served me that day, regardless of what I looked like, what I was wearing, or if I was feeling my best, physically or emotionally. I started pressing my own flowers and suddenly realized how many beautiful “weeds” were growing wild around Moore County. The sides of highways, ditches, and abandoned parking lots offer an abundant array of colors and shapes; ditch Daisies and Sneezeweed are some of my favorites. Finding Spanish books in the U.S. is surprisingly challenging. High prices, limited availability, and long wait times make it difficult for people to access the books they want. Many people rely on Amazon or wait for family members to bring books from abroad. Beyond books, there are limited cultural resources in Spanish for children, young adults, and adults alike, which leaves a gap for those who want to learn, connect, or simply enjoy their language and culture.
